Alright, people - this year, I am Planning Ahead for NaNoWriMo, mostly because I suspect it may be the only way I will actually get anything done. And I am bound and determined to actually finish this year. So.

Here's my dilemma: the last few years, I've actually managed to accumulate a couple of vague notions about things that I want to write, and I don't know which I should go for. So, inspired by a couple other writerly folks on my lovely f-list, I am soliciting your help in deciding which damned novel I should spend this fall desperately trying to write.

I didn't click for Edward, because I wouldn't do him unless you figure out *what* you are going to do with him.

The urban fantasy would be fun, and even if you don't think it's original, so what? (And chances are, it's more original than you think--or it'll get more original when you spend more time with it.)

If you want help with preplanning ideas and such, you know where to find me. That's something I seem to be relatively practiced in. I probably won't be doing NaNo this year, though... of course, I say that every year and do it anyway ;)

That's my general feeling with Edward, as well. I liked him, he's a fun and interesting character... but I have no clue what to do with his story, and writing that era of England takes the kind of research that tends to get me completely distracted from the fact that, oh, right, I'm supposed to be writing, anyhow. XD

I'm putting him in the "someday, when I'm ready for it" pile, along with the Really Neat sci-fi idea that I've got.

I might very well take you up on that pre-planning thing. In the past, it's been my procedure to completely avoid talking about my original work because I felt like I'd lose the magic of the ideas if I talked about them... but I seem to lose the magic anyway, and at least with my fic I often find that talking things out with somebody else makes things clearer to me. So! It'd probably do me good.

...Anyway, Sebastian is to blame for one of the major plot points in the 90s-urban-fantasy idea, so... you have rights to be involved anyway. XD

Since it's hard for me to talk about my own stories, I understand. It's perfectly possible to share techniques without knowing anything about the story, but feedback is a little harder to do. LoL Whatever you feel comfortable with.

Just let me know :D

Sebastion would be honored!

I'll write up what I've got for both the urban fantasy and the potential Gothic sci-fi. I fear most people are misinterpreting my meaning of "Gothic"... could be interesting nonetheless, though. At least if I email you the basic ideas, I can find out whether or not you think they're anything close to worth reading, let alone writing. ;)

I hope so!

I can think of multiple interpretations of "Gothic" and I like most of them ;) Will it be okay if I prod and ask questions based on what you send?

You betcha! That's the best way to get ideas moving, in my experience. Forced to answer questions, I usually manage to come up with something!

Coolness. Asking questions is how I work out my own stories. I just run into people who only want to share and not get feedback (and get mad when I give it unsolicited), so I figured I should ask before so if you didn't want feedback I could shut off that part of my brain preemptively. LoL

(Damn Virgo in me.)

Send it on when you're ready! You know my addy, right? My username @comcast.net
