Last night, Kendra had a Poirot DVD she'd ordered from the library, and despite my general distaste for Agatha Christie (a combination of not generally liking mystery novels and having residual spiteful feelings leftover from the production of A Murder is Announced that I was in many years ago), we decided to watch it, mostly with the idea of laughing at the young Christopher Eccleston we knew played some part in it. I made my usual "I'll be in and out, I'm supposed to be writing" statement, and settled in fully expecting to wait for Eccleston to show up, watch for a few more minutes, and then disappear into my room to work.
1 minute in: God, this intro sucks. Ohhhh, I wish we'd gotten one of his better movies first...
2 minutes in: Oh, look - half a minute of a production of Much Ado About Nothing. Still bored.
7 minutes in: Kendra and I figure out the "main surprise" of the whole movie and have a good grasp already of the entire mystery's solution.
About 5-10 minutes in, direct quotes from my brain: Yay, it's Eccleston. Oh. He's, um... young. And also hot. Why did no one tell me he was actually really hot when he was young? As in hotter than he is at 40-some, which is impressive since I already sort of thought he was insanely so... How did I not know this? "How old is he in this, anyway?"
Kendra: "Young enough for us to seriously perv over, without feeling the slightest bit creepy."
Me: "Also, he's all sullen and angry whichtotally delights me is impressive from an acting standpoint only, of course."
20 minutes in: I recognize him, I swear to god, from about 20 feet away from the camera, wearing a different outfit than before, with a hat covering his face. On my 12 inch TV screen, from across the room. Because I'm insane like that. And then he does this fantastic "oh, the heat, I must stop to wipe my brow and incidentally stretch my neck just so and give a very semi-post-coital expression."
Kendra and I: Pretty much faint, then rewind and rewatch said shot about twelve times before continuing.
Eccleston: Yells.
Kendra and I: Squee.
Eccleston: Is ineffective, sullen, and adorably twenty-eight.
Kendra and I: Squee even more.
Movie ends.
We rewatch the garden scene with the heat another fifteen or so times, and then go rampaging on the internet to find screencaps. Because this man? Seriously entirely too hot.
In conclusion... Eccleston? Is the only actor I've ever really found attractive who was better looking at something vaguely approaching my age than he is in his forties. There's something wrong with this, and yet? I'm very, very pleased.
I reiterate: So. Very. Pretty.
Also, if anybody else is looking for almost!naked Eccleston? It's in here. (Not entirely worksafe, though he's wearing briefs and everything is technically covered. Technically. XD) No, I haven't found the actually!naked yet. If I find it, you'll be the first to know.

If you're allowed to perv over Jack, I'm allowed to have a moment over a character who looks like nothing less than a 28 year old version of the Ninth Doctor! XD

Date: 2007-09-19 10:25 pm (UTC)I think so. Of course, I would be more worthwhile if I could find more perviness to share. It's part of my Great Life Goals: Naked Eccleston. It's high on the list.
I'm so selfless, you see... XD

Oh. So very, very selfless. Hunting down nekkid pictures of pretty men. Arduous, that is.

Yup, that's me. The untold suffering I go through for my friends... *Clucks tongue*
...Speaking of which, if you can think of any really bizarre kinks, I'm collecting them for the Jack Does the Universe fic. Just, if anything pops into your head. ♥

Date: 2007-09-19 10:56 pm (UTC)Wooooow. What a kind and loving friend you are.
... Um. I don't know if I could think of any that you already haven't. I mean, there's the body fluid stuff, of which blood is the only one that comes even close to okay, but still kind of oogy. And vore. Can't go anywhere without vore. Incest, but I don't think Jack would be into that. BDSM, gender role swapping, various role play kinks, tentacles, exhibitionism, voyerism... and that's all I got for now.

Date: 2007-09-20 01:01 am (UTC)Poirot was amusing, but the "mystery" was obvious enough that I doubt I'll be watching much more of it. Interesting, but not nearly twisty enough. I don't read much of the genre, so I figure if I can figure it out right away, it's too simple. ;)

Date: 2007-09-20 03:46 pm (UTC)And yes... it was bad. I was trying to remember the plot, the other night, after watching Poirot, and I'm finding it almost impossible. Bleh. Didn't help that I was doing two shows at the same time, that fall... but either way I think it'd be one of my least well-remembered.
