Actor =/= character. Get the fuck over it.

And if you really feel so obsessed that you must know everything about a given actor (which is creepy, but... whatever), for god's sake, use Google. It's not hard. Don't just spam communities, because you're fueling my feeling that the human race has given up intelligence in favor of laziness and moronic reliance on other people.

It wasn't anything unusual, just someone making a big old request for information about Eccleston on one of the DW comms. They just managed to hit two of my pet peeves at once, and get me on a bad-mood morning. :P

Oh my. Doesn't sound good. But true. Some people have asked me how I can go to cons and see Peter and Adrian (from Highlander) and then read - write D/M. But it's because they are not the same people. The people I read and write about are fictional characters. The actors I meet are real people with their own lives who are paid to come and entertain & and spend time with us. In return, we're loyal to them and the fandom, ie. we spend our money and make them a viable commodity in the business.

Oh yeah, and I adore Peter and Adrian as well as Duncan and Methos *g*

That's a good way of looking at all of it. Personally, I'm shy of actor-cons ever since getting out of my early teens... the fans get so weird sometimes that I feel actively uncomfortable for the actors, and can't quite get up the enthusiasm. Sounds like you've had nothing but good experiences with HL fans and cons, though, which is very lucky. *g*

Hell yes. Not that I think I'd ever have been famous, but I wouldn't want to be. A nice anonymous run in theater, maybe a bit of TV work for small programs... that was the dream for me. Anybody who says actors get into it for the fame is only looking at a tiny section of the population. :P

Exactly. I mean... I don't know. I like picking up pointless trivia about some of the actors I like just as much as the next person, but the idea of posting to a comm demanding information so easily accessible... just boggles me.

Exactly! Granted, I've been known to go on little mini-tirades about the talent (and, admittedly, occasionally the public personality) of various actors, but there's a line between appreciation and respect, and total asshattery. I like to think I don't cross it. *g*
