Can everyone please find somewhere to shop other than downtown for the next few weeks? Or, failing that, at least tonight? My commute was miserable from the hordes of traffic, and I foresee this being very much the case for the rest of the holiday season.

Honestly, people. If you're going to shop downtown, do it by bus. Or at least park outside of town. Or wait until the weekends. Try not to make things so fricking miserable for those of us poor saps who have to work down here and would like to either get home or get to our own holiday shopping sometime this century.

This rant brought to you by my already-annoying commute being deeply complicated by stand-still traffic in the city yesterday, and a pile of shopping I need to do tonight. Also, I forgot to pack a commute!reading book. Wah.

I left work at 4:00 yesterday and didn't get on the high way until probably 4:30. Good thing working on capital hill and selling bagels means getting out earlier than that time most days, but I got caught yesterday so I can only imagine how it would be ever day.

6pm: Leave office.
6:15: Bus finally arrives.
6:35: Bus arrives what is usually a five minute drive away, and I and several other passengers panic and ask to be let out at Amazon HQ.
Walk to transfer stop.
See bus.
Run to catch bus.
Do not catch bus.
Catch next bus (fortunately, I have multiple bus options)
Finally arrive home at 7:30pm.

I love my job. I really don't love my commute, though. :P

Nah - I'm avoiding downtown except what's necessary for my commute, and it's actually easier for me to get over to the area I plan to do my shopping in than it is to get home quickly, so... it works out pretty well. I procrastinate too much to shop online. The party I'm shopping for tonight is tomorrow evening. ;)

:P I have to transfer if I take the bus, and I live two miles away -- makes it a 30-45min trip on good traffic days. Seattle bus system ftl.
