For those who haven't seen it, Terry Pratchett has posted a statement regarding his health. It's not good news.

Wow, that's some freaky timing. *just posted a Discworld fic*

That's some damn sad news, but with his optimism, I'm going to follow suit. It's amazing what simple mind over matter can do, in regards to health.

I wondered if you'd seen it yet, when I saw what you posted for today.

I'm trying to follow his suit, too, but I'm still sad about it. One of my great-grandmas had it, and I wouldn't wish it on anybody, least of all someone whose brain I very much like the way it is.

Damn. =/

But if he's not going to be depressed about it, don't know why we should be. As long as he's optimistic, and living like he wants to, I wish him all the best. ^_^

Yeah. I agree, it sounds like he's handling it pretty well. It's a scary thing, though. One of my great-grandmas had it... not something I'd wish on any brain.

Poor Terry. He was so awesome when I met him at Midsouthcon (we all clustered around him when he ate lunch before his signing and we talked about booksand movies and his general awesomeness). My grandmother and great-aunt have alzheimer's, so I know it can be very hard. At least he's being positive, which ALWAYS helps.

Positivity definitely is a good thing, and from what I've seen of him, Pratchett has that in spades. I've only seen him lecture, but he was very energetic and wonderful. ♥

That's so sad, especially considering we (you and I) know exactly what Alzheimers does to people since we saw what it did to Grandma. I'm glad he is so positive, that should really help him and his loved ones and fans deal with it.
