Apparently we're to take Michael "I almost ran fricking Disney into the ground" Eisner's word that the strike has come to an end.

Personally, I found this quote very interesting:

"As a result of studio cutbacks, however, many of the writers who went on strike are unlikely to return to the same big-money contracts they'd had as individuals with the studios, Eisner said"

Let's all picture someone saying that of a Teamsters' strike, shall we? They'd be dredging him out of the local river by tomorrow. But since it's just a bunch of writers, I guess we're supposed to think that kind of talk is okay. I never particularly thought this was going to end well for the writers, but damn this is crappy, if it's turning out the way he sounds like it is.

To clarify: To be frank, I wouldn't believe Eisner if he said fire is hot. I just regard this as an unpleasant indication...

I'll believe it when I hear it from the WGA.

Me too. Still... Eisner's an arrogant jerk, from what I've heard, but I wouldn't expect to hear him mouthing off this badly if they weren't pretty confident that the writers were at the edge of losing. Besides, Joss sounded a bit desperate in his last post on the subject... I got the sense he knows their losing and is trying to rally the troops for one last stand, so to speak. :(

Still, as you said... I'm still holding out hope. I just wish it was a little more likely.
