I found my thumb-drive! Yay!

And because of that, here are pictures - one for [livejournal.com profile] beam_oflight for her birthday, and one of my kitty, requested in the photography meme that I swear I haven't forgotten. ;)

Indeed, Theo sitting on a box. My pen-box, specifically.

I swear, he'll sit on a piece of paper, just so long as it's that teeeeeeeny bit higher than the floor.

ren does that all the time. I swear he'd be a great actor. Could always hit his mark, anyway.

Exactly! *Hasn't at all thought of taking Theo to one of those open calls for kitty-actors for, like, cat-food and stuff, no not at all...* ;)

Haha! I love it! What a devious trick to play!

You draw so well, I think the hat is what makes it :D

Thank you so much!

Glad you like it! The hat really was important - I had it without for a while and kept sort of going "something's missing.... hmmm." Roommate pointed out that he needed a party hat, and voila! *g*

And you're very welcome! ♥

Really, I just left my pen-box on that chair while I was drawing, and within a few minutes Theo had discovered it and decided it made a much better perch than the chair alone. He likes to be up.

And yes, he's a ham. Loves attention, loves the camera, loves absolutely everything that means people cooing over him. ♥

He is a very big kitty... but no, I haven't got him trained (umm... kind of at all, really). Really, I just left my pen-box on that chair while I was drawing, and within a few minutes Theo had discovered it and decided it made a much better perch than the chair alone. He likes to be up.

That's an awesome drawing. What did you use for the colors?

Prismacolor pens - the poor (or at least less willing to spend gads of money on pens...) person's Copix, if you're familiar with that brand. They're nice - two tips per pen (one broad, one fine), brilliant colors, etc, and they don't bleed too much, even on paper that wasn't exactly intended for them. I have high quality card-stock type paper for major projects, but I've discovered they do almost as well in my regular sketchbook - better, depending on how you want the colors to lay. On the sketch paper I can get almost a water-color look, if I lay layers just right. On heavier paper the blend is more smooth, but multiple layers of the same color don't shade like they do on the sketch stuff... which is inconvenient for me as I don't own *quite* as many different shades as I'd like. ;)

The one thing I've noticed they lack is a broad selection of flesh tones. I have some Tria brand pens to fill gaps in my collection, and I know a lot of folks have Copix just for that. Also, they don't have the *ultra* fine tips that Tria has... but they do have more colors in general. So, trade-off.

Nifty. I picked up a set of the low-end Copics ("Sketch" type, I think) a couple years ago, with this grand plan about how I was going to learn to use them. That plan kinda went out the window, and my skills with them still need a lot of work, but I do still intend to get better at them. When I have the time, just like everything else in my life.

I've mainly used them on bristol and thick sketch paper, so far. They have a bit of a bleeding problem on thinner paper.

I absolutely couldn't use pens for my drawings until I picked up the Prismas. I'm too fussy about detail, too neurotic about colors... but now that I've had some time to get used to Prismas I love them. I still need to buy more of them so that I have more full blending options (damn is it irritating to do a 'base coat' on something and then realize I haven't got a single appropriate shading pen for that hue), but... I'm adapting. It's been really fun being able to actually have bright! and solid! darker colors. XD

That's an awesome drawing! Poor Daleks. Always so mistrustful. (Poor cake!)

And adorable kitty! My cats are both on the large side (probably because we've always spoiled them rotten), and both of them love perching on the most precarious things they can find. Gracie's day is not complete until she's managed to wedge herself onto the back of a wooden chair.

(They've also got the terrible habit of stuffing themselves into boxes that are way too small, and then staring mournfully at us when they get stuck. I had to extricate Gracie from a pencil case, of all things!)

Thanks! Something about the Daleks just amuses the living daylights out of me. They're so... 'cute' seems wrong, but I just can't avoid it. Plus, they're darned fun to draw!

Oh no! Theo, thank goodness, isn't too bad about actually getting himself stuck in things (despite being huge). I can only think of once, and that involved one of my housemates accidentally closing him into our linen closet while he took a nap. He does like to squish himself under our armchair, though, which he has to do by squiiiiiiishing himself down and shoving with his back legs. I've never yet seen him get stuck, but he makes all sorts of silly noises and faces while trying to get in or out.

...Seriously, though, a pencil case?

The Daleks are indeed amusing - if they didn't do all their trundling around the universe in the name of destroying everything, they'd be downright adorable! ;)

...Seriously, though, a pencil case?

She really hated the zipper. We were watching her attempt it, laughing uproariously (until she got stuck, at which point we dashed to the rescue), and she just stared at us like it was a perfectly natural thing to be trying. Hee.

Midnight has found a new favourite box - one of those really tall ones used for storing jackets and such. He'll hop up on the freezer, peer into the box, jump in - and then he can't jump out. Silly cats!

(The funny thing is that they're both about thirteen years old, and yet seem utterly convinced they're kittens. Hee!)
