Went out after dinner last night with the sole intention of acting as moral support while K bought a used copy of Torchwood season 1 at Scarecrow (our local Totally Awesome Video Store - note for locals that they still had six more copies or so as of last night!), and immediately saw two old Doctor Who VHS tapes hanging out in the same bin. Who am I to decline a $5 copy of "Destiny of the Daleks?" And then we stopped by Half-Price Books, since we were in the area, where I found the dratted old Peter Cetera CD I've been looking everywhere for, and thus had to suffer the humiliation of walking up to the desk and buying a cheesy CD originally put out in 1986, all for one frigging song that some vidder used for a Harry Sullivan vid, and which I, after inadvertently watching said video, have been unable to get out of my head ever since.

It's not my fault I had a childhood obsession with cheesy 80s soft-pop. And it's certainly not my fault that it kind of stuck. Alas. :P Anyway, at least the dratted thing was only $4.

Yes, I admit it - I am secretly rather pleased with the whole thing. But I'm annoyed at myself for that fact. So.

I've completed my first full week of Operation: Dress Like a Human Being, though! One full week without just giving up and wearing crummy clothes and my grubby old hiking boots just because "it's cold" or "I feel crummy" or "it's Friday." Go me. This is what happens when one's roommate gets a snazzy downtown temp gig - horrible guilt sets in over one's own lazy "I work in the tech industry, we don't believe in a dress code" ways. ;)

Also, I banged my chin on the seat in front of me on the bus today. No, I can't explain how I managed this. I'm just graceful that way, or something.

Now you're dressing up on the weekdays, too? I keep saying I will, but I never do ;) I like wearing my hoodie and jeans. LoL

I'm trying to! What can I say... I like clothes. I like clothes, I like dressing up, and the weekend is too short. ;)

(Really, it has more to do with me having better self-esteem if I take the time to dress nicely. So there is a practical angle to this. And spring always makes me feel like dressing nicer, anyway, so I thought I'd embrace that.)

I totally get the correlation to looking cute = feeling good about yourself. That's why I wish I wasn't so lazy. Hahaha.

I want to wear more of my pleated skirts. :D

Heh, I'm graceful like that too. It's not once or twice I've walked right into a wall, fully sober and in broad daylight.

Oh yeah. My big trick is banging my elbow or hip on things... especially the corners of counters and door-knobs. I swear they put door-knobs at exactly the right height to bang into my poor hip-bone! :P

You know, Peter Cetera is probably on Rhapsody or EMusic or iTunes or something where you pay less than a dollar and don't have to look anybody in the eye. (:

And yay for dressing up. Pictures or it never happened.

(PS: Used Torchwood already? Wow.)

Oof. I would love to be able to wear jeans every day. You're lucky, you are.

Yeah, gotta admit, I love the jeans. I need to do a major culling of my jean collection, get rid of all the stuff that doesn't fit and has holes and all that crap, though. :P I'm down to just a few pairs that work.

That's important, that. Having more than a few pairs of pants that work. Wardrobe malfunctions are bad for morale.

Yeah, my old job was business casual. It's nice to have the option to slop on jeans and a hoodie on lazy mornings. Alas, lazy mornings have become norm for me. I don't even put on my make-up until I've been at work for a couple of hours. *blush*

Oh yes. You horrible person you. I will now judge you for not wearing makeup until later in the day. Oh. The horror. The horror.

o_O

*still the proud owner of zero makeup*

Mostly, I'm self-entertained that I don't put on make-up until midway through my shift. I mean, if I'm trying to not be ugly, you think I'd put it on before I show up ;)

I mainly wear make-up because my face gets oily and the stuff I wear helps me feel fresh ;)

You are not alone in loving cheesy 80s music of the Peter Cetera ilk. Or in banging your hip into door mechanisms. XD

Oh thank god. I sort of want to hide it in the middle of all my other CDs and pray no one ever sees it, but... *glee* I can't help myself. Cheesy 80s music is so FUN!

And the damned door knobs are out to get us, I swear. :P They're evil!

Yes, evil doorknobs!
Someone should whisper that to the Dr. Who writers,eh?

It is! I don't know what song you were looking for, but I actually have a soft spot for his "Glory of Love" because of a fan vid, myself. So I'm in no place to mock you. 8D

Of course it was that song, yup. I admit, I liked it before the vid... but I also had the excuse of being a preteen. :P Now I don't have that excuse anymore, but... hey, whatever! ♥

I'm okay with being a total sap. Really. >_

I have a lifelong and slightly unhealthy obsession with "Glory of Love." Thus proving that I am, in fact, the sappiest sot in the whole world. ;)

Seriously, I was stupidly giddy after buying the CD. I think I had it when I was, like, twelve... but I lost it. So I have it again, now!

Aww, that's a pretty one! I have that in my library! I'm inordinately fond of "After All," the one he did with Cher. XD
