How's this for sad:

My copy of the BSG miniseries is due back to the library tomorrow, so I have to watch it tonight or deal with a nasty old late fine, but I don't want to... because I'm afraid it'll make this week's dubious Doctor Who look even worse. :P

I jest, of course. But... not as much as I wish I did.

...Seriously, though - how did I forget to watch this? Crud, crud, crud. I can't stay up very late tonight.... damn.

Good luck! It's so worth it. What season, by the way?

Miniseries / first one? I was told that the miniseries came first, so I got that... but now I'm going to return that (as it is due) and borrow a friend's DVDs. So. I have no idea, actually. Hopefully the first?

Ah, that's right, I forgot the mini-series is like an uber-first episode for the first season. If you just want pretty fights and cylons, you could stop there, but if you to watch them deal with the social and political ramifications of the human race down to 30,000 (or something like that) and floating in space, keep going. And I actually think it's much more thought provoking than dark, though it does have its moments.

yay bsg! the miniseries is only -- what -- 3 hours long? 3 hours of sexy cylons and devastated humans revving up their ftl drives. HOT.

Lol. I shall be fine, as apparently I can borrow it from a friend/co-worker person. So I shall still get to see the sexy cylons and devastated humans!

I'm looking forward to this.

yeah, it's pretty dark, but so compelling. if you are good you will catch up before they finish airing the final season... which is going on now, kinda-sorta... if they would only figure out what the frak they're doing.

oh, i am in the middle of Buffy the Vampire Slayer right now. my interest in scifi/fantasy/whatever seems only to grow with age.

Yeah, I've heard really really really good things about it. I'm not necessarily looking forward to how dark it apparently is, but... it sounds fun nonetheless.

Awww, Buffy! I love that show. You'd probably like Angel a lot, too - it can be a bit cracktastic at times, but it's darker and more morally ambiguous than Buffy. And it has an evil law-firm.

i am almost at the end of season 4 of buffy and i've seen half the first season of angel already. one thing at a time! i do totally enjoy it and i don't know why it took me so long to get around to watching it. first i was into veronica mars, then someone told me to watch twin peaks (which, do that, if you haven't), and with the "tiny blond thing" theme of VM there were millions of comparisons to buffy, so... unemployment and a netflix account ftw!
