So, I was DEAD FROM SINUSES yesterday, and ended up staying home curled up in bed drugged up on Nyquil so I could sleep. Which turned out to be the best thing in the world for me, because... well, here I am! All functional and everything. Go me.

Anyway. In honor of my return to the world of the waking, let's do a meme I snagged from aris_tdg:

Alas, it's not hard to come up with ways that Susan Ivanova would be a bad girlfriend.

1. She's convinced that her loving people causes them to die.

2. She's not entirely inaccurate in that belief.

3. She strikes me as someone just this side of having some pretty serious alcohol problems, at times.

4. I have a feeling my pacifism would be a cause for arguments. So might the whole "atheist" thing, although I suspect that'd be less of an issue, for some reason.

5. Serious commitment issues even if she could get past the "I get people killed" thing. Alas.

Hmm. I seem to have misplaced my Ivanova icons, so Delenn will have to stand in.

And, for Doctor Who... I guess I have to go for the Ninth Doctor, because I can think of absolutely nothing wrong with Harry Sullivan or Romana. ;) So!

1. Fatal attraction to danger. That's a bit of a problem, sometimes. Hard to have a date when Earth keeps getting invaded or whatever everywhere he goes.

2. Apparent inability to dress himself in colors other than black and "dark." Yes, it's pretty, but... variety is nice?

3. Survivor's Guilt Like Whoa. I don't know what else to say to this, but... it's a problem. Cute, but also a problem.

4. The whole "I don't do domestic" thing. Awkward, if the relationship goes for a while.

5. Commitment-phobia, as with all incarnations of the Doctor. As much as he loves a person, he's always mentally preparing for them to leave, or to leave them. :(

Oh, this is awkward... I don't especially have a crush on anybody on Torchwood. I guess the closest is either Tosh of the amazing Boobs of Death, or Owen and his "Really, I'm a Bastard!" attitude. I like Ianto, but he's pretty taken at this point. Hmm. This is a tough decision. Death or snark, death or snark....

I think... that of the two of them, Tosh is probably more my type? Less frat-boy-esque. However:

1. Pernicious Boobs. I swear to god, that woman's cleavage causes death, or something. Everybody she dates dies! That's just a little bit scary!

2. Work-a-holic. Unless I take up residence in the freezer in the Hub, I'm probably never going to see her.

3. She's obsessed with Owen. Slight problem for a relationship, being as how I'm not him. On the other hand, this means she would probably find my gallows humor and sarcasm attractive. Bonus!

4. Same problems with hours and alien gook as mentioned earlier with Scully.

5. Even if she does get home or out to a date, she gets called at all hours for Rift-related emergencies. Not conducive to a cozy evening at home.

Oh, it's gotta be Scully, then - I'd kill Mulder inside of five minutes. ;) Scully, however... is lovely.

1. First problem of course being that she's... probably in love with Mulder. Or at least sort of... used to putting up with him.

2. Bigger problem: She strikes me as pretty darned straight.

3. FBI = bad hours and lots of travel.

4. Comes home covered in all sorts of icky alien goo and stuff. Also, always late for dates because of her partner trying to sabotage things out of jealousy over the fact that *she* actually has a social life all of a sudden.

5. Catholic families... tend not to be so into the "Mom, I want you to meet my bisexual girlfriend" thing from their daughters. I have a feeling Bill would hate me almost as much as he hates Mulder.

Oh, no! And with Giles, I really can't get away with the "but there's nothing wrong with him," answer, because...

1. Spends a distressing amount of time hanging out with teenagers.

2. Tendency to bring his work home with him... in the form of big scary demons who want to kill things.

3. Jealous evil-sorcerer ex-boyfriend and associated evil-magic past.

4. Near-obsessive concern over the Slayer. It'd be like having a stepdaughter, times a billion - no matter what, I have no doubt that a relationship would always come second to Buffy in his mind.

5. Drinks as a coping mechanism, to the point of drunken binges at times --> possible alcoholism.

....Still worth it, though. ;)
