"May be lying" is a bit of an exaggeration, here - he's not lying. He's just being dumb and pretending to be coy. Note to Davies + Fandom: The show, nay, even the world will not implode when David Tennant is no longer the Doctor, and we do not need to pretend that it will. He's a great actor, seems like a fabulous guy, and I'll miss him in the part just like I miss every other Doctor when they leave... but you know what? That's the whole point of the frigging show. The more the production team pulls this kind of "ooo, David might never leave (if you're good)" crap, the more it's going to mess with the shows newer viewers when he does leave.

Somehow I thought the idea of having people who actually like a show running it was that they'd get things like this. Shows what I know.

Updated: On second thought, I think RTD is just having fun spewing crazy now that he's not going to be the producer for much longer. Please stop telling us things, now, Davies. Srsly. No more. I don't care if you're just having a joke on the fans because you've got short-timer's attitude now - this kind of thing just gets tiring really fast.

Seriously, I really want to like him. Sometimes I love his stuff. S1 was brilliant, I loved The Christmas Invasion despite wanting to hate it because I was feeling sulky about Eccleston leaving, and I even was one of those weird people who loved almost everything about S3, especially the Utopia arc (minus floating Tinkerbell Doctor). I've even liked some of his non-Who stuff. I just... god, he makes me angry sometimes.

Same! Eh, except for s3; I mean, I liked certain eps, but, seriously, Daleks in Manhattan 2-parter? Apart from My Angel Put the Devil in Me, which is a great song lol, I was not a fan. I've not seen any of his other stuff; he did the original Queer as Folk, right?

I... am kind of a stupid Dalek fangirl, and even I didn't particularly like that episode. The song rocked, but other than that I was mostly unmoved.

He did, I think, but I haven't seen that. I saw his TV miniseries The Second Coming, mostly because it has Christopher Eccleston in the lead. ♥ It's bizarre, but I liked it a lot.

In short, he's saying that Tennant might never leave.

By which he means that they haven't talked about Tennant leaving, which... um, duh? 'Cause he (Davies) won't be in charge anymore after this year? So why would Tennant be talking to him about it even if he was planning on leaving next year?

More importantly, that's just a stupid thing to say. I mean, Baker holds the record, and even he only stayed for 7 years! As much as I'd like Tennant to break Baker's record, I think it's silly to start bandying around like he's never leaving.

EXACTLY. I love Tennant, he's awesome, and I totally love that he's so into the show and such a sweetheart about it and a fanboy and all of that, but... any Doctor forever would be too much of that Doctor. Except maybe Nine. ♥

As much as I really wish there was more of Nine, I'm kinda sorta glad that he left before he did/was forced to do anything incredibly wank-worthy. I mean, there isn't one of his episodes that I don't adore. And I can't say that about many shows.

True. It's sort of like... well, I don't know if you've seen Firefly, but for me it's like that. There were only 14 episodes, so it didn't have time to be anything but awesome, and it'll probably be one of my favorite shows forever exactly for that reason - it didn't have the chance to do anything that made me angry or annoyed.

Same thing with Nine. We barely got to know him, so it's like everything that he did has this warm, fuzzy glow over it (compounded by the fact that he was my first Doctor).

Nine's tenure was like a 13-part miniseries: he was there to do a specifically laid-out job, which he did, and then he was done. He did everything he was expected to do and wasn't given the chance to screw anything up. He didn't... overstay his welcome, I guess is what I'm trying to say.

I still would have killed to see Nine in "School Reunion" instead of Ten. *is a relentless Sarah Jane fangirl*

Heck yes. I mean, Tennant was brilliant in that episode, but Nine would have been absurdly adorable. And probably would have nearly crushed poor Sarah with hugging. Which, really? Would probably have just reminded her of Four, now that I think of it...
