more fic confusion

tardis_bigbang over there, and it was going great... except the first chapter is already there in an earlier version that I'd based the whole giant fic off of. So... should I delete the previous version? Or should I leave it, change the title for the chapter, and make a note in the chapter notes that an earlier version of it is out in the standalone section?
Normally I wouldn't mind just deleting the older version, but I wasn't sure if that somehow contravened normal fandom / archive etiquette. :(
It's really weird to go through editing something you wrote a year prior, trying to decide what of it needs to stay and what needs to go. I already ran this thing through several edits, both as a standalone and as a chapter in 'A Time of Grace,' but I keep feeling like the whole thing needs more and more work before I'm really happy with it.
Also, people should keep an eye ontardis_bigbang this month - all the authors from last year are posting our thoughts on the process and our stories, along with links to the fics. If (like me) you missed some of the fics the first time around, now is a great time to check them out again!
