Why must Hollywood cast men I hate every time they do a Robin Hood movie? First Kevin Costner, and now Russell freaking Crowe. With Cate Blanchett, damn it! Thus ensuring that, once again, I will probably like every damned person in the movie except the star, who I will want to strangle. *Headdesk*

At least with Costner, I could explain why I hated him. Russell Crowe, I just plain detest. He's not a bad actor, precisely, I just find myself unable to give a freaking damn about a single character he's ever played.

Oh, and comments about my movie preference as a child, narsilion, are strictly to be kept to yourself. :P

I like Russell Crowe because he reminds me of my dad... which is why there are some films I just plain don't want to see him in.

Kevin Costner I don't like at all, but I like many of the films he's been in.

My favorite version of Robin Hood is still the BBC's Robin Of Sherwood (the one from the 80's - not to be confused with their most recent version)

Why can't they make a non-satirical Robin Hood movie with a British actor? Why is that such a challenge? ;_;

Has there been a good Robin Hood movie since Errol Flynn died? Even though I am a Disney fan and apologist, critically speaking the Disney Robin Hood movie is really pretty boring.

But British actors only play evil or academics! Didn't you know that? :P Hollywood makes me truly sad with that kind of logic...

The thing with "Prince of Thieves" was that a lot of the rest of the cast (ie, everybody except Kevin Costner) was pretty good... or possibly I'm looking at it through the rose-tinted glasses of "oh god, back when Alan Rickman was young and thin and absurdly sexy." ;) But seriously - there were a lot of really good actors in that movie... it just got ruined by Costner and some seriously dubious writing.

(...."Why a spoon?" "Because it'll hurt more..." ....Ahem.)

Anyway. I haven't seen the Errol Flynn movie since I was tiny, but I mean to fix that soon, and... given the recent ones that I've seen, yeah, I'd have to say that there hasn't been a truly good version since.

I've never like Russell Crowe either, and for equally undefinable reasons.
