Many, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ciara_belle - your package arrived safe and sound on Saturday! I'm wearing "Kostnice" today, and already in love with "Wicked" as well. ♥

Last weekend was mostly running around on errands with the boy, and this week/end looks to be just as busy. We're trying to plot out a container garden for the balcony, get him through Doctor Who (so far he likes Ten not quite as much as he liked Nine, and apparently thought Four was lacking something... must find a good episode to convince him otherwise on this subject!), and this Sunday we'll be volunteering at the KUOW pledge drive.

He also met [livejournal.com profile] narsilion for the first time last weekend. I think it went pretty well, despite a few embarrassing stories getting aired. ;)

Yesterday was kind of "OMG MONDAY," so I'm hoping today is... less so.

Oh, and I'm 95% finished with watching Blackpool. Absolutely fabulous show!

So it occurs to me you might be the one to ask where to find old Doctor Who things. :> So, well, I'm asking!

Thank you~

As in online, or as in at stores? 'Cause you're the one in a good position to find them in stores right now, if I'm not mistaken... ;)

Fanfic, audios, pictures, episodes... whatcha looking for? :D

Well, yes, but stores implies I have MONEY, and therein lies the rub.

I was thinking episodes, online. Of course I'm always open for fanfic recommendations, but I feel like I should watch some of the stuff with old doctors. All the people in the Doctor Who Society have seen like, ALL OF IT. I am woefully behind. :|

Ah yes, that old crisis I'm very familiar with. ;)

Hmmm... Honestly, most of the old stuff I've seen has come either from the local rental place or from borrowing from friends. Can the society folks loan to you, or does it not work that way? Maybe you could hook up with folks and do a viewing party?

[...] apparently thought Four was lacking something... must find a good episode to convince him otherwise on this subject!

Hmm. Okay, a challenge. :) Has he articulated what he doesn't like about Four? And what episode(s) have you shown him?

Seven years worth of the show, there's bound to be *something* in there he'll like. :)

He was having some difficulty explaining... possibly because of the shocked and horrified looks he was getting from the roommate and I. ;) But what he said was that he didn't seem very 'alive' - probably bad episode choice on my part. "Ark in Space" is one of my all-time favorites of that era, but especially at the beginning it's not the best for getting how engaging Four can be.

I usually suggest City of Death as one of the all-time greatest Four eps. And it's got Romana, and it has a relatively coherent plot and special effects!

Or, um, Horror of Fang Rock? I have actually seen less Four than many other Doctors, so those two would be my picks.

Heee. I'm always a fan of "City of Death," of course. I worry sometimes that I'm overly fond of it, so I'm glad you suggested it. ;)

The one thing that worries me about it is that it's got some of the same plot problems that all of Douglas Adams' writing had... but hey - at least it's Douglas Adams!

I .... was also coming back here to suggest City of Death, but now I have to come up with something more original. :)

.... Hell, let's just stick with Douglas Adams. How about The Pirate Planet? Tom's pretty animated in that one.

You'll break up with him if he doesn't like Romana, right?;)

I think he may already be aware that I'm pretty attached to her. He hasn't seen anything with her yet, but I'm betting that if he doesn't 'get' her, he knows better than to say so when he does. ;)

Aww c'mon... I was on my bestest behavior. So many more stories I could have told!
I had a wonderful time with you both, thanks so much for sharing your Sunday afternoon with me.

I was just teasing! :)

Seriously, though, we had a lot of fun, and he said you were really nice and cool.

Oh, and Kendra and I have already nearly killed the cookies you gave us. Far as we're concerned, they're the definition of an unqualified success. :D Can I get the recipe from you?

Yay, I'm glad he didn't think I was overbearing or a freak. I really think he's so wonderful.
Also yeah! I'm so glad you liked the cookies, I thought they were good, but sometimes you just never know.
The recipe
I smashed up 3 very ripe bananas,
added a teaspoon of vanilla and 1/4 cup of olive oil,
and 1 egg and mixed it together.
Then in a bigger bowl, I put 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
2 cups of rolled oats (not the quick cooling kind)
between 1/3 and 1/2 cup of shredded, unsweetened coconut
a couple handfuls of golden raisins
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
a pinch of salt
a little more than 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
about 1/2 cup of nuts (I used pecans, but I really had wanted to try pumpkin seds and couldn't find them)
most of a dark chocolate bar, chopped up.
Mix the wet and the dry together and bake at 350*
for about 13-15 minutes. I cooked them for 15 minutes, but I used a silpat so the bottom wouldn't get dark.
If you have parchment paper, that would work great too.

Oops, of course you drop it by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet.
They don't spread much so you can put them pretty close.
