Rainy, sleepy Sunday.
Went yesterday to see Return of the King one last time before the Oscars... I'm thrilled that so many parts of it still put shivers down my spine. The arrival of the Rohirrim at the Battle of Pelennor Fields just... wow. And Theoden's speech to the riders!!! And Eomer as they charge!!! Ah, the whole thing still gets me, every little moment. It was wonderful, and I will be horribly disappointed if they don't get their due from the Academy. They deserve that recognition.
In other news, we're studying Mendelian Genetics in my Bio Anthropology class. God, it's miserable. I find myself skimming - I already know the basics, but the more complicated stuff just goes right in one eye and out the other, so to speak. Also, I believe I taught Sean a lesson this morning - never start a "Shakespearean language" conversation with someone who's in the midst of taking a class on Shakespeare and who *just* did her daily reading in it. ;)
toignar: How art thou this dreary day?
rosalindjen: I am quite well, in sooth. Enjoying the pattering of the rain against the panes of my chamber's window.
toignar: Indeed. I attended a most pleasant appointment to dine this afternoon, but now the prospect of papers concerning our great ancestry concern my mind.
rosalindjen: Indeed, the same subject currently vexes my mind, as well. In faith, I cannot understand how mankind ever unlocked the mysteries of this strange subject called "Mendelian genetics."
rosalindjen: A pox on my professor for assigning to us this dreary reading.
toignar: Ah, Mendelian genetics! *Prepares to expound.
rosalindjen: *hides*
rosalindjen: no expounding, I beg you!
rosalindjen: Already is the textbook attempting to steal my soul with this dreadful subject.
toignar: Ah. Well, I certainly would not aid any but myself in an attempt for thy soul.
rosalindjen: Much would I prefer the memorization of various attributes of primate skeletons. *Sighs*
Also, I fought down the temptation to write fanfic last night... but I think I might continue that silly little Lothiriel/Eomer bit that I started, if only because I adore the Rohirrim and am always curious about customs and the like among them. I'm such a cultures-nerd.
And lastly, are any of you SCA folk going to the project night this week? I'd sort of like to go, but not if none of my friends will be there. Oh! And if we do both end up going, I need to give you back your calligraphy book, and also give you your Christmas presents,
sablebadger and
ladysonnet.
