kickstartin' it
Feb. 4th, 2011 10:52 pmMy dear friends over at Royal Archivist Publishing have started a Kickstarter project to raise money for art to beautify their written universe. In their words:
We're launching our site and our universe in March, and while we have a guidebook about the universe full of expressive words that we think will inspire storytellers of all stripes to want to make cool stories with us, the book is kinda plain right now. It's just text. Don't get us wrong: we love words! But we also love art, and we don't have any. If you also love sci-fi and fantasy art (or horror or steampunk art) our project is right up your alley!
Check out the full info on the Kickstarter project here, or go to their website (which will be getting much prettier next month, I'm told) for more info about them in general.
(In the interest of full-disclosure, I'm doing a bit of work for them myself. But I can also personally vouch for the fact that they're good people who know how to use their resources. And that this thing is going to rock.)

Date: 2011-02-05 08:13 pm (UTC)Our initial product line includes universe source-books and fiction, and we look to expand into novel lines, universe-related merchandise, sequential art, and games–both analogy and computer-based.
(That bit of marketese is from the website. ^_^)
... the shared universe thing seems to confuse people the most. The best comparison I've heard so far is that it's similar to the Marvel or DC universe in concept. Lots of stories and characters all being told within one, much larger world.
