Today, I get to totally negate the hour of overtime I did last night by calling in late to work so that I can stop by the leasing office to yell at them for leaving a note on our door telling us we hadn't paid rent... when 2 seconds on my online banking site confirmed that, in fact, they deposited the freaking check yesterday. With our apartment number written on it. By them.

If we had an airlock, somebody would be meeting it this morning.

On the plus side, io9 has a very cute little selection of pictures of rare birds. Top of the list is the kakapo, a bird so charmingly stupid that, judging by Douglas Adams' chapter about it in Last Chance to See, I can only say I was pleasantly shocked to discover is still around. And so cute!

I'm really sorry, because I know how that sucks.

2 months ago, the postal service managed to "lose" not only our rent check, but half the rent checks from our entire complex.

Yiiiiiiiikes. Yeah, that's scary. One of the nicer things about our building is that the office is on-site, so we just drop the check (in an envelope) in a drop-box, no problems (usually). No worrying about the postal service being stupid (as I always used to fear at my old place in college).

This thing, though... I mean, damn. If they'd just lost the stupid check, I'd be mad, but that happens I guess. Cancel the check, write another, still have to be late to work, whatever. But they deposited the damned thing, and then (seemingly) went straight up to put a notice on our door. WTF?

Did you find out what the reason was? Did they stick the notice on your door by accident (and it was for the apartment next door)?

But agreed. Annoying as all hell. :P

No frakking clue at the moment. The asshat office manager was all "oh, I'll see if I can find the deposit."

Because, you know, my bank's print-out of the deposited check might be lying. Or maybe someone stole it out of their drop-box, WROTE MY APARTMENT NUMBER ON IT in the same handwriting that was on the notice on our door, and deposited it in their private account.

If they don't call by lunch time, The Boy is going to call them. And if they haven't admitted they were wrong, I'm calling my bank to see what they say I should do.

So what ended up happening with all that? They are really clueless aren't they. This isn't the first problem you've had with them if I remember right.
Damn.

Eh, it got worked out. Just frustrating. They're pompous dweebs, that's about the long and short of it.
