Bear McCreary (he of the awesomely fantastic BSG soundtrack, among other things) wrote the official fanfare for the last shuttle launch tomorrow. Official NASA press release here.
That's tomorrow assuming it doesn't get delayed because of Weather. Either way, I'm such a crazy mix of sad at the end of an era and happy for another launch because that's always a cool thing, and now happy about Bear getting to do this, and aaaahhhhh.

Date: 2011-07-08 04:04 pm (UTC)Dunno if you caught the launch, but it did go off after a slight, two minute delay while they verified the retraction of one of the gaseous vent arms on the launch pad. I'm just sorry the weather here was so craptastic, as it meant we didn't get one of those extra-pretty, storybook launches. Then again, I'll take "ugly, but safe" any day.
Damn. Last shuttle launch ever. *sniffles*

Date: 2011-07-08 04:08 pm (UTC)And really, the weather wasn't too bad from what I saw. Not clear and gorgeous, but watching the shuttle disappear as a big bright burst in the clouds was pretty damned cool.
And yeah, safe is the important part. ♥♥♥
I'm still crossing my fingers we get something good from the contracting agencies who've been tapped in a decade or so... optimistic, yes, but I want us getting back out on our own steam as soon as possible!
