Emperor Philippa most likely knows damned well that Mirror!Burnham should be well and truly dead, because Emperor Philippa most likely ordered her killed.

Why? Because it is the Worst Thing That Could Happen, of course, and that is the engine upon which this show runs. What is the worst thing that could happen?

This is not to say we won't be getting a touching "you were my favorite" reunion, and (with apologies to Michael Burnham) I pray that this reunion will be deeply confusing to our Burnham who thinks Philippa loved her like a daughter. But still.

And if I'm right this is likely to be deeply confusing for a lot of us, too. I expect Emperor Philippa to be a lot more genuinely scary than, say, Intendant Kira. So... this should be... interesting.

I think she's going to be terrifying. I think, for me, the scariest Mirror person so far was Deanna Troi from the Dark Mirror novel? But Emperor Philippa is going to be so much worse.

OMG, I hadn't realised. Of course it is.

It's a game I play with my writing partner sometimes - "You know what would be terrible?" It's usually the best way to move the plot along... but it's also agonizing sometimes.

Ohhh, I read that book! A million years ago, so I don't remember it very well anymore, but I do vaguely recall Mirror!Troi, now that you mention it. ...Yeah, Philippa is going to be a lot worse. Especially because, frankly, I never cared that much about Troi. And I love Philippa...

The writers are handing me the one thing I've wanted from the pilot onward, wrapped in... well, black leather and a big giant bow.

And I know them well enough by now to be highly suspicious of that. :P
