Jun. 10th, 2004 12:12 amIt's been a weird evening. Not bad, mind you - just weird.
A bunch of us got together for a bit of shopping at Buffalo Exchange, then dinner on the Ave, tonight, followed by bubble tea (thank you,
zinjadu!), and then watched the last four or five episodes of Full Metal Alchemist. Good lord that series is angsty... it just blows my mind sometimes.
At Buffalo Exchange, I found a nice black blouse... and then, as we were waiting for Dora to finish up, Cora and I wanted over to the purses and satchels to browse. I'm not sure what went through my head, but when I saw a light brown leather one buried in everything else, I just had to look. I kind of wanted to put it back when I pulled it out from the others - it was more a box than a purse - but something about it just kept niggling at me. Cora pointed it out - it looks quite a bit like something Lupin would have. Needless to say, said boxy-purse-thing is sitting happily on my bed, now, proclaiming my silliness to any and all who happen to see it and know me well enough to realize what I thought of it.
While we were walking toward home, Dora, Cora, Anne and I had a very surreal experience. We were behind a building, and noticed this... little furry thing on the ground in front of us. At first I thought it was a rat... but urban rats are not white and brown (Norwegian-patterned, isn't that called?)... nor are the fuzzy. The thing was, I swear to the gods, a HAMSTER. A frigging Teddy-bear hamster, just like you'd get at the pet store. It scampered almost straight up to our feet, then veered, ran past us, and off into the bushes. We were on campus at that point... so I'm guessing it might've been a pet somebody bought during the year and then couldn't take home, so they just let him go, maybe. Stupid people.
Poor little guy. I felt bad letting him go like that, but god only knows if he was already diseased or something, and I haven't got a place to keep a hamster.
