Due to a joke that started with Tiffangelwings and I while we were bored this evening, I am now writing a musical parody based on the RP that we're in... It is likely to be no fun to anyone who doesn't A) know the Buffy Musical (and, hopefully, some other musicals) by heart, and B) have at least a vague idea of what's been going on in the mad, mad, mad world of Memento Mori, the most insane Harry Potter RP that ever existed.... but, for those who fit these qualifications, it should be at least mildly amusing.

It is probably also a good sign that I *REALLY* need a job or something to keep me busy. If I have this much spare time... it really isn't a good thing.

In other news, I stupidly wore the new boots to work today with just a thin pair of socks and, thus, have blisters on both my heels. Thankfully my supervisor at work is insane-hiking-guy, and he gave me massive amounts of advice on how to get my feet used to them, so it's all good.

Quotes of the minute: (for background, this song is now about trying to figure out why Draco Malfoy was sighted working in a Muggle bakery over the summer)

HARRY: I’ve got a theory, that he’s redeeming;
But this is Malfoy—neh, something isn’t right there.

* ~ *

GINNY: And what’s with all the carob?
Who thinks that tastes like chocolate, anyway?
Muffins! Muffins, it must be MUFFINS!!

wow

Yay! The first half of chapter 13 of Cassandra Claire's Draco Veritas series is up today!!! The second half will be up in a few days, giving us all time to panic somewhat before the *real* cliffhanger ending. SheisagoddessIadorehersocompletely!!!

And some of the stuff going on in the RP is making my mind totally blow up. It hurts. It hurts my poor little mind so horribly. And I'm not supposed to know about any of it, either, 'cause Kate accidentally told me while she was being told... she needs the moral support, though. And I'm incorrigible and can't keep from begging to know what's going on... so we're a good pair of trouble-makers. *Grins broadly*

In other news, I had a final today... and it went ok. It was one of those finals where about 70% of the questions are like "wow, that's so easy!" and another 10% are kind of "ooo.... that's a toughie, but I've got it!" 5% "yeeesh, I don't remember that at all, I guess I should have been more careful on that reading I didn't have time for"...... and 5% "I totally cannot remember the prof ever saying *anything* about that!"

Yup. But I'm doing ok. And I'm going to spend tomorrow studying for my *next* final, which is wednesday at 10:30... and trying to finish stupid Wutherine Heights for the final 8:30 thursday.

Oh... and I have a sore throat. Hmph.

Finished!

With scroll for Spring Fling, sadly, not with 8-10 page paper due tuesday.... but hey, it's progress! For the record, it is currently 12:39 AM. So yes, I finished it the day of the event. Woohoo! Classic college student, right there.

Can't think of anything else useful to say... DnD was good today; Cora did a great job DMing, Zanne did a great job of making Waram (or however you'd spell a name like that) a snarky bastard but still likeable, Kris did a great job of being the angsty, lovely fighter-type, and Tiff did amazingly well besting *all* of us in the battle, despite the fact that her character was blind. And my character got to play the innocent maiden capable of winning the affections of a unicorn. For one of my characters, that's pretty unusual...

Anyway, I'm going to bed now, before my contacts crawl out of my eyes.

Must.... write.... essay.....

*gags*

No... Seriously, this has been a pretty good weekend so far. Went out with Derek yesterday, saw "Bruce Almighty" (funny, some intelligent bits, though not as amazing as it might have been, and I kept finding myself making little Dogma jokes throughout it), wandered around the Ave a bit, went to dinner at Shalimar, generally hung out. Nice lazy day.

Today I have to work. I'm going to try to have my English paper finished by the end of the day, and then I need to read Apuleis' "The Golden Ass" so I can start my other damned paper. And, of course, I get an email from my English prof this morning talking about all the grammatical issues he'll be particularly looking out for... *winces* Gods, I hope I make it through the rest of this paper quickly.

Oh, but we're supposed to start a new day in the RP today... however, that still doesn't mean we'll be moving quickly because of classes... no, no... because of all the trouble, classes will be cancelled for the first few days. *growls*... I swear it'll be autumn quarter before we actually get to *classes*.....

Getting close to finished with the scroll for Spring Fling, too. So I've made at least some progress in something already this weekend. Now here we go with the big stuff......

Quote of the day: "Random sex with the trolley-cart lady!! It'll solve everything!!!!"

Yeah. It's been *that* kind of day.

A little story about my English professor is in order, I believe. You see, he has this nasty habit of pulling questions out of nowhere. It's like sudden-death Trivial Pursuit. "Who made thus-and-such a comment about Jane Austen?" "What year was slavery outlawed in England?" All in a very serious tone, like he totally expects that if we don't know this we're uneducated morons.

So the other day, he asks "who said thus-and-such-a-thing about Milton's Paradise Lost?" And the quote sounded really familiar to me... but I had no idea. Neither did anyone else. Dead silence. So he prompts us--"roughly contemporaneous with Jane Austen, poet laureate for *some sections of years I don't remember*....?"

Still silence.

And I remember my TA from one of my previous English classes saying that William Wordsworth was poet laureate for a long time.... so I say that. And it was right!! Yay!!!!

But now he's saying I'm our history expert... and he expected me to know the answer to some totally random thing today.... and that's bad.

But I need to go to bed, now. I spent WAY too much time giggling with Kate over the state of the RP. So.... yeah. *Runs off, still chuckling*

Role-playing last night went very well, and I had a lovely day today trying to catch up on my reading (not going well...) and posting on the online RPG. Loads of fun. Amazingly good angst and emotional stuff going on over on the RPG, in addition to all the fun the other characters are having. I'm totally enthralled....

Quote of the day (from last night's game session):
"I don't tell you how to stab things, so don't tell me how to guide things."

Looking forward to a week of running around trying to get things done... taxes, paperwork for event in June that I'm autocratting, readings for classes, picking up blank for a scroll I'm coloring, getting ready for the con that I thought wasn't until the end of the month.... things like that. Insanity, as usual.

Quotes of the day:

"Holy underwear, Batman! I forgot I play Ron!"
~Ox_ee_moron on my new online RPG

"[Jane Austen] has probably given more pleasure to men in bed than any married woman."
~My new English professor, in reference to Jane Austen's failure to marry. I think he's in love with her. Keeps talking about what a genius she was and all. Ick.

In other news, the first two days of the quarter have gone pretty well. I screwed up some at work on monday, but I plan to remedy all that tomorrow (hopefully). And I desperately need to figure out which of my four classes I'm dropping, and whether I should get into another English class, too. Eeep. Other than that, everything's cool. I like my classes (otherwise, the decision would be a lot easier...), and I love my new online RPG, although it's a new level in my identity as a fangirl. *Sighs*..... Oh, well. Such is life.

Had a lovely, lazy, cheery break. I spent most of my time reading, writing, and practicing the guitar, but also found time to see Les Miserables at the 5th Ave (AMAZING!!!!!) and just generally hang out with my family.

I also watched the Oscars, which was nice, if mostly predictable. The big blew-my-mind-away surprise was the winner for best original song: Eminem!! Seriously, people. This is the ACADEMY we're talking about.... and they gave HIM the award??? Unbelievable. I'm still mad about them not even nominating Lord of the Rings for best original score; they WON last year, after all, and I thought the score for TTT was miles ahead of FotR in style and beauty. Oh, well. They damned well better get some good notice next year, or I'll.... well, I'll gripe and moan a lot. So... Yeah.

I just noticed that 101.5 (my favorite radio station) will actually say "f*cking" (those who think it's silly for me to censor words I'll happily say can bite me... I'm never quite sure who's reading this, and I'd prefer not to shock the heck out of anybody).... but they won't say "chickenshit." They blipped it! I guess they've changed their rules a bit. Hmph.

Lots of stuff to think about from game last night... My poor character has a big moral/emotional headache. Yay for angst! Must go write diary entry there, too. Here's the site for our blog, in case any of you are really bored... I think Cora and I are really the only ones who post frequently. http://ravensanctuary.com/kc/dnd/index.html
