Spent yesterday hanging with the usual suspects - 10am karate with [livejournal.com profile] zinjadu and [livejournal.com profile] coramegan at the IMA, which went very well (turns out that although my body took forever to remember a simple pivot - no, I'm not sure why, either - I have a natural talent for jamming the heel of my palm into the face of an imaginary enemy. Go figure), then a nice walk home, groceries, and watching [livejournal.com profile] nekokoban start to play "Fatal Frame II"... which resulted in the collective female population of the house all screaming every time a ghost turned up. It's a damn pretty game, though.

After that, spent entirely too much time revamping my icons for IB (yay! new PB!!), and headed off to [livejournal.com profile] coramegan's to watch the end of "The Elegant Universe," hosted by the sexiest physicist ever, Brian Greene. The last installment definitely made up for the somewhat elementary stuff in the first, and the amazing repetitive-ness of the whole thing. Ah, TV documentaries - repeat the subject every five seconds, just in case the audience has forgotten what you're talking about. But this one was sooooo good. ♥ And we had sandwiches, and lots of random talking and joking around, as always. It was lovely.

Today... I'm working on fic, and trying to get reading done. Lots and lots of reading. But at least one of the books is legitimately fun, so that makes it easier.

Really? Huh, that's cool. He seems like an impressive guy - I'd guess that it's rare to find someone who can not only understand high-level theoretical physics and explain it well in writing, but also come off as both intelligent and approachable in a more visual medium.

Apparently Greene's wife is a TV producer, so I guess he gets better advice than most physics professors :)

Sounds like a lovely weekend! And speaking of icons, check out this amazing one: http://www.livejournal.com/userpic/9584016/612757
I love it because it's just so true!

*Squees* Ohhhh yes, that is so lovely! Gods bless Firefly for having equal-opportunity fan service - for each time we saw Inara or Kaylee half-clothed, we got to see the boys in states of undress, too!

"Ah, TV documentaries - repeat the subject every five seconds, just in case the audience has forgotten what you're talking about."

More than forgetting about what you're talking about they are likely missing parts because they are:
A) in the bathroom, because there was a commercial, but didn't get back in time
B) making a snack because there was a commercial, but didn't get back in time
C) checking on the kids/pets because there was a commercial, but didn't get back in time
D) any number of other things, because there was a commercial.
Sounds like you had a really fun (and busy) weekend. Now I must go read your new fic--WHEE!!!!!
Today I watched War Stories, (as much as Grandma loved Jayne, she HATES Nisska. She was very glad when that ep was over, but she loves the series, and when she's done watching them, she wants to see the movie!) Out of Gas, Jaynestown, and Our Mrs. Reynolds.
Have a great day tomorrow. I saw that there were some places that had flooding up in the U district. I thought about you since you and Erin's rooms are below ground level, but I'm sure something would have been posted or you would have called had there been a problem.

This was more like "just in case you're flipping through channels and are watching this without knowing what it is, this is about STRING THEORY! String theory! STRING THEORY is fascinating because STRING THEORY is a new THEORY that has to do with STRINGS!"

...Okay not quite that bad. But it felt like it sometimes. Three hours of that, you start thinking you've heard 'string theory' more than any other pair of words in the English language.

Awwww... that's so wonderful, I'm glad she's liking it! Niska's definitely a nasty person, but he's such a fun villain to hate. How'd she like Jaynestown and Our Mrs Reynolds?

Nope, no flooding here. *Knocks on wood* That would be in the U-Dist proper, I'm guessing, where assholes like my former landlord on 47th get away with murder because students want to live close to campus and don't know any better.

You have a good day, too!

She loved both Jaynestown and Our Mrs. Reynolds. I think she liked Our Mrs. Reynolds best. The part at the end with Inara is so awesome!
