Every now and then, in random wanderings through fandoms, one comes upon a very special kind of picture. A kind of picture that makes one think... what the fuck were these people drinking? And where can I get some?

B5 fans... it's probably old news of the most tired sort, but you should totally look at it anyway.




Hell, everybody else should look, too, because randomness is funny even if you haven't got a clue who the people are.

Alas for the quality. If anyone has a link to a better version of that pic, I'll love them forever. And my affections are just mercenary enough today that I might just mean that. :>

See that's how I saw it, it was tragic for *Delenn*. Sheridan, on the other hand, was like 'I knew my price, and your okay with this right? Hey! I know let get married and pretend everything is just hunkydory!'. Bastard.

JMS said that Delenn was in her late '40s early 50's in Human years at the beginning of S1, which would be around '20s, '30s for Minbari and they live to be 200 years and older...Yeah, stupid fucking putz.

This guy ignored a midget with a red ball and won a battle? Wasn't Highlander about a Scottish guy who was immortal or something? And didn't that have to do with chopping off someone's head? Jesus. A midget with a red ball. I'm so glad I've never watched a episode.

A lot of the military stuff was pretty good, you know except for the whole commanding officers joining the battle and all. And chasing down criminals when it was Security's job to do that. I know it's supposed to make them all Hero like, for me being that underpaid Security grunt I was screaming at the tv. If the CO gets injured he won't get into any trouble, they will. Damn hero complexes.

"Eyes"? Isn't that the one with the Colonel with the scarface? Dude the only thing that saved that episode was Ivanova flipping the fuck out and trashing the entire bar. Woman was one hell of an fighter, and she knew the rules like a good CO and said well if your gonna fire me I might as well be drunk when you do it. :D I love Ivanova.

I did like the whole Ranger patrol scheme but really who couldn't see that he was up to something? Wouldn't G'Kar and Londo see that, at least? I can't really remember if I got what he was up to or not but I did know he had some scheme going on. I thought the boy had some hope there for awhile but then of course he walked straight into a trap eyes wide fucking open with Garibaldi.

You know I get that it was his dad and all, and dear god did he have some daddy issues. If that were any other show like OZ or something I might have thought there was a little too much between father and son. Anyway, it's his dad, I get that would be one of the hardest choices to make but - but if he wasn't willing to send a White Star after Marcus (and how hypocritical although I understood why he didn't but still) why should he get the chance to go down and save daddy? Didn't he learn anything at Z'hadum? He had to let go of everything and be the leader everyone needed him to be...except for daddy. That has always pissed me off. What about the other officers who've had family tortured and held captive? They still stayed with Sheridan on B5 even knowing that. Gah. Still haven't gotten over it.

And if he was to be captured which was a good idea I think, except for that whole barring injury or illness thing for him. It's what you get Sheridan for being a grade A dingbat. Couldn't he have been captured fighting with his men or scarificing for his men? Like Sebastian said giving up his life, only to be forgotten and never remembered? Where no one will know his sacrifice? That might have been the point of Z'hadum but everyone knew he came back from the dead since you know he so eloquently barged in on the station (which Garbaldi should have shot him for that, does the man have no courtesy? YO, just ask for permisson to dock moron!Like everyone else.)and in a Hitleresque way to me told everyone how it was gonna be and how he died and came back like Jesus himself. And if that was the point of Z'hadum he missed by a mile or ten or however long that drop was...

I've never watched the original ST, I have watched TNG from time to time (and talk about bad acting). But Bester is teh ebil lurve that shall know no bounds. :D He's just so gleefully evil so happy. I love it. Walter Koenig was awesomely cast as that character.

Lise, oh trust me when you get to S5 you'll wish a lot of the plots were dropped- no really just wait.

You know if at anytime it would have been a great time to make Susan and Delenn friends it would have been at the start of S4 (I would have preferred sooner than that though but anyway)it would have been bonding over Sheridan dying at Z'hadum, Susan saw him as a brother, Delenn saw him as her lover...and what do we get...a pointless mission to Z'hadum in which (if Bester was correct about why the shadows wanted Garibaldi) they could have killed Susan and Delenn and the forces of light would have been demoralized and therefore you know they win! But hey maybe I'm thinking in Earth logic, I hear that's pretty dicey way of thinking in tvland. And then Delenn, this really smart and talented leader then plans to go back to Z'hadum on a sucide mission...whaaa?

Oh and another thing Delenn was willing to go back to Z'hadum to die but when she finds out about Sheridan being captured we don't get that firey, NO MERCY KILL THEM ALL Minbari leader, not the Severed Dreams HE IS BEHIND ME YOU ARE IN FRONT OF ME Delenn, or the STARFIRE WHEEL Delenn bitch slapping Shakiri in front of the whole Minbari homeworld...No we get her mad at a Council meeting that has been kept from her.
Now, I know that she has learned from her past mistakes and that she knew Sheridan didn't want her barging down towards Earth like she did last time (Angel of Death seems appropriate) but still no emotion...nothing? That's not my Delenn, not the one I know anyway.

I really thought the actress who played Talia sucked sometimes until she went Evil Twin Personality Swap Woman then she was badass. :D
Pat Tallman(Lyta) I thought was okay. I won't say anymore until you see S5, just this if you think her acting is bad now in this season you have no idea, none of what is to come. And that's all I'm sayin'. :D

Hmm. I think he had to have meant that Delenn's age in terms of the human lifespan was equal to 40-50 years, putting her around 130. Otherwise she'd be younger (by a lot!) than her own aide (canonically, Lennier is 120 or so), and only 10 or 20 when the E/M war started. But still - she had a good 70 years or more left, of which now 50 (more, considering how old she was when we saw her in the end ep of S4) would be spent alone. Way to go, Sheridan. :P

I have no excuse other than having had the hots for one of the secondary characters. But yes, this is the one about the Scottish immortal who cuts off other immortals' heads, and yes - a midget with a red ball. To be fair, that was the utter low point of that series. But still.

Incidentally, what show did Claudia Christian apparently leave B5 for a one-time role on? Highlander. *Headdesk* And Lochley? Had formerly played a total psycho bitch on Highlander. It's crazy how all those 90s shows intersect.

The daddy issues on Babylon 5 never. end. I swear, the only character I can think of who doesn't have daddy issues is frigging Londo. And... for all we know, Centauri could procreate by fucking fission (budding), so that doesn't really count for much. But you are sooooo right about Sheridan and his amazing attitude of "the rules don't apply to me." I think that's reason #1 that the guy pisses me the hell off. I've got no problem with people bending the rules from time to time for a good reason, but Sheridan just stomps all over them pretty much because he feels like it. Don't want to pay rent? Great! Don't want to listen to everybody about not fecking going to Z'ha'dum? Fabulous! Argh!

One thing I would've loved to see: all of a sudden, in the middle of the war, Sheridan realizes (or, more likely, Ivanova tells him) that the money he'd been diverting out of the defense budget to pay his damned rent on his damned bigger room before they broke off sure could've come in handy for more supplies to defend the frigging station. Bastard.

And yes, the plan was totally clear to the viewers, I felt, and... well, to be fair, Londo and G'Kar were suspicious. They just weren't sure exactly what he was doing. The council didn't really have a clue, but they've always been portrayed as kind of dumb and reactionary. More's the pity. Still, it was some pretty good maneuvering, compared to most of his other bone-headed plans. ...No offense to the Minbari, of course. ;)

Yup, that's the episode. And yes, the one good thing about that was Ivanova. ♥ Well... naturally, I was kind of amused by the subplot with Garibaldi and Lennier, as well. But that's just me being crazy. (I swear, when I think about it, I really can't figure it out! Why him? I have no idea. But I digress more than usual.)

That not-sending-the-White-Star-after-Marcus thing was so asinine. A cynical part of me wonders if it wasn't a passive-aggressive way of assuring that Marcus' plan worked - it's not like Sheridan really gave a damn whether Marcus lived or died, and he liked Ivanova a lot. Not a nice theory, but I can't help wondering. I'm kind of surprised Delenn didn't just send one anyway - the Rangers are her primary responsibility, after all, and Marcus had damn near gotten himself killed saving her from Neroon not a year before. Nice gratitude, there. (Also, Lennier's phrasing in that whole thing seemed so contrived - "there is no workable solution" or whatever. Was he trying to give poor Marcus the idea that there might be a way, or was JMS just incapable of coming up with another way for Marcus to realize that something was up? Now there's a disturbing thought.... in either direction.)

Okay so I had this really long (and good!) post typed up to your comment and- my power flickered and I lost everything. I shall now go and find a really big hammer and crush my computer. Arrrg!!!
Alrighty let's see if I can remember what the hell I typed...

Yes, the B5 show is one long sentence. And I would exclude the aliens but for one thing- they are just as longwinded in their own language! :D
In fact in one of the commentaries Jerry Doyle (Garibaldi) says that "it was pure chewing satisfaction, that is why it's called Babylon 'cause you babbled on and on and on!" Hee!

Yeah you should really watch the commentaries, I did have a really long reason why, like who all did the commentaries and what some of them said but since my fingers hurt I'll cut down on the wordage. One episode each season has a cast commentary and two episodes each season have just JMS commentaries. Bruce and Jerry were on all of them and are hilarious together, Jerry doesn't hold back on his opinons of the writing, acting and all the characters including his own. Actually on one of the commentaries Bruce and Jerry have a running banter on how fucked up each other's characters are, so funny. Pat Tallman (Lyta) is in two of them and she's just a sweetheart, you can really see how much they all loved working together. Peter Jurasik (Londo) is in two of them and oh god he's a woobie! So different from Londo shy, quiet for the most part and really smart. I love Peter! Richard Biggs (Franklin) is in one along with Ed Wasser (Morden). Richard is so funny he adopts this ghetto accent for the docter, acting like Franklin is Shaft so hilarious. Actually in that commentary with Bruce, Jerry, Richard and Ed they all talk about Mira (Delenn) and how great she is and one of them comments on how they all get quiet during her secnes (which was true! :D) and just went on about her for like five minutes. Bruce call Mira 'The Grand Dame' of B5, hee. Jerry goes on about her long ass speeches, heh. All the cast commentaries are just great it made me wish I was there on the set during the run of the show when they talk about all the practical jokes going on. Okay that was too much wordage so I'll stop there, but you should see the commentaries there aren't any gag reels until the fourth and fifth season but they're great.

Corwin must get all the cookies, and don't forget Delenn. Mira, should get cookies for just saying all those damn speeches and making it interesting and good. Mmm, Delenn!Cookies...I just went to my happy place. :D Oh, and I love Mira's voice. :D

I did type a really long thing about Sheridan and his useage of people but...neh it was too long anyway. So I'll hopefully cut down on the wordage. (maybe for some reason I just ramble on when I talk to you :D) JMS stated that after Z'hadum Sheridan had to learn that he had to use people in battle and not hesitate because they were his friends. Now, that I can get because I've been in situations like that before but also you should never forget that those people are just that-people. I've served under people like Sheridan and they don't inspire loyalty or confidence in their troops. One of the main reasons I got out of the Air Force, I might have given up my rights for my country (offically you don't but unoffically...we don't really have that small thing called freedom of speech) but I'm still a person. I understand what got into when I joined but that doesn't make me a peice of machinery. And apparrently I still can't shut up about it. Sorry didn't mean to go off on you, it still hurts even after getting out.

I'm the same way about Susan and Delenn- what's not to love? :D

As far as what Delenn knew...I think she didn't know until the conversation in 'Rising Star' while Delenn can be vicious she usually isn't to the people she loves, she usually goes out of the way not to hurt the people she loves. And that therin might be the problem. I do think she can be blind to some things and she probably didn't see how Lennier felt about her with the war, Sheridan stupidly dying and all but...that might be my love for her getting in the way. :D
I do like it when my fav characters mess up (Londo again, I still love him even though he was a right bastard) I think she could have handled that conversation better but how? If she did know before the Shan-Fal how would she go about discouraging him? Or telling him there was no chance with her? I would think he would be hurt if she didn't want him to conduct the rituals, he would feel as though she didn't trust him or something. And if she sent him away back to Minbar to get away from her he feel even worse about it. Like she didn't have faith in him or that she was ashamed of him for feeling that way about her. She was put in a postion (to me anyway) were whatever she did would hurt him so how do you go about rectifying that with as little damage done to him? And if she didn't see it until later on yeah it is selfish in a way but I keep putting myself in that postion and truthfully I can't see a way out that any of them could take that wouldn't hurt both of them. And he did swear himself to her side, which Marcus politely called foolish and well I agree but the heart does as the heart does as Delenn would say.

It's just an all around painful situation...

Oh, I hate when that happens!

...There was a gag reel on S4? #$^#$&$^@%$#&. Damn it. I knew I should've taken more time to go through those damned extras! Shit. Well, I already meant to go back and buy them... now I just want to do it soon. Must see commentaries and absolutely must see gag reel.

Yeah, Mira's voice.... I would never dream of being upset at the length of her speeches. Everybody else (okay, except Susan) I'm kind of like "yeah, whatever, get to the point." But Delenn? "No, please, keep talking. Do you have an encyclopedia you could read aloud from or something?" Ah, so lovely.

I can't even imagine. I mean, I'm... hardly the sort who would end up in the military to begin with (way too small, way too prone to getting heatsick, dizzy, etc), but the tendency to regard people as cogs in the machine would just drive me nuts, I think. And yet, I think it works if you have a good leader... which Sheridan is like the anti-example of. At the risk of turning everything back to the two of them, Susan and Delenn are, I think, much better examples of good leaders. Not perfect, of course, but... they definitely don't leave the sickening "you really don't give a damn, do you?" flavor in my mouth like Sheridan does.

You know talking about this has made me think of something else. In all the races we've seen Humans and Minbari are the most stubborn when it comes to fighting and dying. Like in the E/M war, the Minbari were slaughtering us world by world, colony by colony but even at the end we still were fighting. There is a speech in the movie In the Beginning concerning the way Humans fought, that absolutely sent chills all over my body. Each and everytime I watch it (which is a lot) I still get chills at that part. I won't spoil it if you haven't seen it but when you do watch it you'll know what I mean, even the director of the movie said that he and the actor who had the speech were moved so much by that speech. He said they both had chills after they shot it and it only took one take.

Anyway, I don't know how to word my thoughts correctly but I'll try.
During the show we've seen how we are individuals but unite when when there is a danger to our race, which I would think that would be like most races. But we are different in one aspect, if we are going to die we do it our way.

I was deployed to one base that was not the best place to go, we had a lot of problems there. A lot of perimeter breaks, attacks on the base itself etc. and of course me being the dummy I am signed up to be a cop. Guess who gets to defend the base? Yeah in the AF Security Forces (cops) are like the Marines in that area. Anyway, one night I was out with my Alpha guarding a perimeter that had been broken several times.(usually they just lobbed gas cannisters but sometimes they used rpg's) I was all of 18 years old and we were both scared out of our minds. We were cracking jokes, trying to take our minds off it and acting like teenagers really. Not the kind of people you want in your country's AF but anyway at one point this guy turned to me and said that he didn't know what he would do if we were attacked-would he run or freeze or what? I was wondering the same thing about myself, he went on saying that to the guys we were up against that it was a game, hell if they died it was an honor he didn't feel the same way about it himself. Again I felt the same way, but I pulled this little but of piss ass wisdom out my butt, I told him in my most condecending tone that the ball might be in their court but it was our game, bitches! Then we both just cracked up because even with me being the senior airman on that post he knew I was scared as he was. I think about that a lot because maybe I was right, when I saw In the Beginning and that speech mostly I keep thinking maybe it isn't how we die, it's what we were doing when we die. I don't mean if you die in your bed sleeping your not as brave or strong I just meant it in a purely military sense. The message I got from the way JMS wrote Humans was that if we die we might as well take everyone of those bastards with us, which for me fits to a T.

Mummy's defensive stance made me laugh out loud when I saw it, if he even tried to fight like that those two fingers sticking out would be the first ones broken.
I figure that all Minbari are taught martial arts (at least a little) in temple because before the time of Valen all the castes and clans warred with each other. I would think it would be efficent to teach your people how to defend itself, seeing as the Minbari were not the most social beings in the galaxy (not like the Centauri) they would still want their people able to fight off attacks spacefaring or groundfaring. So Lennier would at least have a fighting chance against Neroon, and I don't remember if he ever used the Denn'bok (the pike)I don't think so at least I don't think we ever saw it. But I would think he would want to brush up on it, Delenn knew knew how to use one so I don't think it was restricted just to Rangers and Warrior caste. I often wondered if Delenn was ever trained as a Ranger before she became Entil'za. I know Sinclair had Ranger training before he became Ranger One so surly, the Rangers must believe you have to have training before you become their leader. If so she would have been trained as one before going into the service of the Gray Council...which gives me all kinds of ideas.

I thought Delenn used Marcus's Denn'bok in that episode, oh darn now I must go re-watch that episode such a hardship. :D

I'm not entirely sure it was the fact that Marcus was human that made that choice I would have thought that a Minbari would have been a better choice just because Neroon would have been insulted if a human fought for her since he did look down on humans until he fought Marcus.

I would have preferred to see Delenn get in a stand off with Neroon. I don't think she would fight him unless she had to (defending someone else is the only reason that I could think of) but still she and Neroon had some awesome chemistry to me. After a fashion and all that. :D
And seeing her fight gives me all kinds of...um...thoughts that I won't go into. :D

And I agree with you about him not saying anything, it wouldn't be realistic. So I guess I'm back to him having feelings for her in the first place. But you've already gave me a lot to think on that too. Hmm. I hate it when your all ways right. :D j/k

Nope, haven't seen In the Beginning yet - I've only seen the series itself up through S4. I even missed the actual pilot, apparently, which is sort of too bad. Hopefully I'll be able to get hold of the better movies eventually - I might have to put up a poll for people to give me their opinions on each of the movies, once I finish the series proper.

That does sound like what JMS was going for, and it's something that at once makes me proud and kind of upsets me, because it's so much the sort of thing that I see getting us into deep trouble in our conflicts. We're not willing to step back and admit that, hey, we're all going down if we don't cool it. But I try to be a pacifist in all but the worst situations, so I'm biased on that... and I certainly can't speak to the actual practices and realities of battle. It strikes me as odd that that kind of attitude wouldn't be common to all species (assuming they existed), just because... well, that's how we all survive, isn't it? Fighting til the end? But maybe that's biased of me to think it'd be the same everywhere. Culture's a strange thing, and it's damned hard to find hard universals sometimes, even in our own species, or to define what exactly is universal about them.

Exactly, she had her entire genetic structure rearranged in like, what? nine, ten? days. You know that had to be painful, and do it that fast she was lucky she did't come out looking like a Vorlon on a ten day drinking binge. And anyway yeah it hurts for some women to lose their virginity but my God it isn't like she was getting her leg cut off with a saw! And don't the Minbari learn pain meditation techniques? Or learn how to block pain? I'm pretty sure they do because they mention that as part of the Ranger training, the Rangers get. Which comes from the Religous caste and the Warrior caste.
(And think we learn that in S5. Sorry! but it's not that big of a spoiler)
So anyway she would block it out or I don't know just get through it like every other woman.

What would've been great though to see in the series was if Minbari mate differently to humans. I would have loved to see how she got used to the idea or anything that Minbari did differently to Humans (as in relationships) that Delenn would give her pause. I was always so interested in how the Minbari delt with things how they lived etc. We didn't much of that at all.

And yeah the whole virgin!Delenn gets on my nerves. Not that I saw her as easy or something but come'on...

Do you remember that I recced John Hightower (but don't read it yet because it will spoil all of S5 for you) to you? Well, s/he's one of those people who think Delenn was a virgin. Okay, now just because I don't think she was doesn't mean I won't read her/his fic, just that I don't agree with it. But anyway he said that JMS said that Delenn wasn't with anyone else but Sheridan, but s/he also ships Mayan/Delenn and Delenn/Branhmier (perhaps he said) so whatever...Anyway there is a forum on Jumpy that John goes to post his updates and stuff. So I posted that I liked his story and everything and I loved the fact that he came up with all these rituals and really gets into the Minbari mindset. Now I don't agree with how he has taken the Mibari mindset but I give him serious props for having a great imagination to come up with all these really small details that flesh out the Minbari even if (I told him) I don't agree with most of them. In fact you can probably find our disscussion still on the forum.

Well s/he came back and basically said he goes with canon. That's fine I told him but we all interperet canon differently (like how we judge a characters reasons and actions, as in I'm more sympathtic to Delenn because I understand her reasoning behind her actions, unlike Sheridan who I find an asshat). So then it got into a discussion of what was canon given all of our pov's. And you know that never goes well, then I had fans of one of his storys basically saying don't criticise his work blah, blah, blah. Dude one or two of them even emailed me. John was't being a bastard about it, he was actually discussing it with me it was his fans anyway.

Okay so getting to the point, I don't really like how he wrote Delenn. She's like all mousey and not-Delenn to me. Plus he really gets into her role of the E/M war, in fact in his/her sequal her really gets into the E/M war which I find to be interesting. And he also delves into Delenn's relationship with Lennier some of the things John came up with on that aspect I just cannot see Delenn doing no matter if you hate her or not, it's just not the character the same with Lennier and you know how much I don't like Lennier so it takes a lot for me to say that. And Sheridan, well I hate Sheridan so that doesn't help when I don't like him in a fic.I can never figure out if it's the author's view of him or my general hate of him getting in the way. But he does write Susan perfectly, which is just great.

But he also writes about David Sheridan (who I find to be a prick in his stories) and Ardenn. I hate Ardenn. She's his/her own character and I swear to God she's the Mary-Sue-est of them all. Now you might be wondering why I even kept reading it even after I started disliking it or why I even recced it to you. One, because even though I disagree with a lot of his ideas on the Minbari, I really do think he put a lot of thought in it and tried to keep it as canon as much as possible, as least how he interprets canon. Two, there's not a lot of mushy-gooyness in the story as far as sex scenes go and a lot of plot. I find that refreshing, the story is going somewhere especially in his sequal and it has a lot of spies, deceptions, betrayals, characters fucking up but still liking them etc. going on. He/She got me hooked especially on the sequal, it made me intrested maybe not in all of the characters (like Ardenn the stupid, irritating wench) but most of them and all of the old characters. And all the characters have their own storyline that join up together which is always good. Three, because there isn't much fic out there for B5 and this one is decent and the story/plot itself is really good. Bringing past actions into the future and how the future generations view our hero's. They view them as hero's of course but that's because they don't know the entire story, like the viewers do of the show. Even if I want to claw my eyes out everytime Delenn is mousey or not as clever as I think she is. I mean this is a woman who taught Lennir how to twist words, and he was damn good at it. Or how much I hate Ardenn.

You could pay me to be a Pak'mara or a Gaim. Kim Strauss is a great alien character-actor, he plays the Drazi Amabassador, the Markab doctor etc. He really just comes out of the makeup and does a great job. And Wayne Alexander is teh shit! Wayne played every alien character (except the Centauri), he was the Inquistior Sebastian which I think was the first time he was out of costume for a role, he also plays Lorien, and in Intersections of Real Time he plays the Drazi that the EA paid to play an innocent martyr which was great given how he was the first torturer Sheridan knew. JMS said that they did that on purpose. Also Wayne plays Scorpious on Farscape. Each and every character was different and he did a good job imho. He also plays a character in S5, awesome job with that as well.

Erm, I don't have a great body image of myself so I don't think I'd be able to do that, in that regard I'm a lot like Willow. :D

I'd love to know what you learned, somehow I don't think Sex and the City was the best way for me to base all my knowledge of it on it.

Yeah, that's just plain nuts. Delenn may come off as this delicate little thing, but... for crying out loud, even for human women it's only a serious problem if there are physical or psychological issues at work. And for a half-Minbari? Have we not heard enough about how much tougher they are than us? Please.

Oh, if that came from S5, I'd already guessed as much from what we've seen.

That's so silly that his fans would freak out over something he wasn't at all upset by. Anyway, people need to take fandom discussions less seriously - so much of it is opinion, especially when you get into matters that aren't dealt with directly in canon! It doesn't really matter that much. *Shakes head* And it's entirely possible to have sane, normal conversations (even debates!) about things without getting into a stupid fight or attacking people. Argh.

He also delves into Delenn's relationship with Lennier some of the things John came up with on that aspect I just cannot see Delenn doing no matter if you hate her or not.

....This worries me. Eep. Damn, I'm in trouble - I'm so protective of that little guy, and already so worried about what's coming for him. I foresee Bad Things.

I know. I mean think of the episodes they could have replaced the B-plot or hell even the A-plot with Susan and Delenn friendship storylines. Oh lets see, hmm, just off the top of my head starting with S1: Infection (although it's hard for me to give that one up I use it to laugh at really bad days), Mind War (keeping the Bester parts though, he's my Evil Woobie) Deathwalker (take out the Talia plot), Survivors, TKO (see they could have had it all about Susan and we could see Delenn observe human mourning rites and be a friend to Susan here! Dammnit!), Grail, Eyes and The Quality of Mercy.
See all those times we could have had Susan/Delenn friendship and no-look at what we get...Erg.
I'll definitely check her stuff out, I don't mind reading f/f stories at all, but for me it's kinda hard to see Delenn/Susan until after Season 5. What I mean is I want it to be in canon and for me I just don't see them getting together until after Sheridan's death. You know?
In fact for me they didn't give off the subtext until after Season 2 the middle of Season 3. Ahh, that didn't make any sense.
What I mean is, the weren't in a scene together long enough or even talking to one another long enough for me to really see if it was just friendship or that it could be more until around late Season 3 and on. Does that make sense at all?

I'm afraid I won't be able to watch DS9 because I'll be thinking-'hey! you stole that! No, stop [insert character name here] you are not G'Kar don't even go there...' But I'll give it the old school try. :D

Oh the G'Kar/Londo plot. I can't tell you how much I love it. I...just be ready to shed tears man, because that was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen on tv. My god so good.
Er, anyway, don't take what I said wrong. It did fit, really just I wasn't expecting it. And the way my mind is I just wonder what would've happened had X not done this or Y done this instead. It was just me rambling when I shouldn't have I don't know if you've noticed or not but I do it quite a lot. :) But stay as spoiler free as you can because it would ruin a lot of the scenes if you know what's coming.
Even me being a spoiler-whore, I was lucky that when the dvd's came out and when I found B5 I didn't get online a lot nor did I even know anything about the show so I saw it free of any knowledge of what was about to happen. That's probably why I love it so much, it was so shiney and new for me so unlike any of my experinces with other shows (in which I spoil myself constantly with the *need* to know) that it just made it so great for me.
Take a deep breath and wait. :D I know so easy for me to say but it's worth it. :D
You know I might re-watch S5 as you watch it I would love to get all your reactions once you finish a episode. And since I haven't re-watched S5 since my first viewing I would love to know what you'll be mad about first. :D j/k

I think one of the reasons they forgot about the whole body/vessel thing was that he *was* the best of them. And I happen to think that if Delenn wasn't in love with him, she *loved* him which made all the difference. Plus they hadn't been at war with anyone including themselves in over a thousand years. I mean Marcus had pent up agression for only a few years and look what he did to a room full of people in Downbelow. These people had pent up emotions for you know a thousand years...yeah slightly scary.
I don't know for me it all comes back to the fact that she was holding him in her arms. For me even if I hardly knew a person who died in my arms it would still, you want to make the other person hurt you know. And since Sheridan was a solider I would think he would understand that. Maybe not about carrying on a war for four years after the fact but why she started it I would think he would get it. But I'm projecting again I think onto him. The whole E/M war fascinates me and disgusts me, mainly because I've been where the Minbari were. I don't mean to trivilze the war that we have with terroism going on here and on Iraq, Iran etc. But anyway it doesn't matter I can just see her side a lot more clearly than Sheridan did/does and I guess that's why I really don't understand why JMS left it out of there relationship. We hardly got anything as it was so why should I think he would go into that at all with them.

On paper, Sinclair fought at the Battle of the Line, hated Minbari, became friends with the Minbari Ambassador who started the war, became Ambassador to Minbar, became Ranger One/Entil'zha, went back in time and became Valen their greatest religous figure and fought the Shadows leading the Minbari to know peace for a thousand years. And since he knew that the those same Minbari would be heading to Earth to kill his friends and to capture and torture him...And for him not to change the future because the Minbari and Humans needed to work together to fight the Shadows and to change anything could possible end it all... Yeah on paper I really like the guy. It's when I re-watch S1 over again I remember why I hardly write anything about Sinclair at all.

That makes total sense. I tried to write the two of them interacting once and got completely lost in the whole "where can I fit this?" question. I know I want it to work, and I want to believe that it happened anyway, whether or not the writers ever paid attention to it, but it's hard to make it fit.

I'm embarassed to admit this, as it's a betrayal of one of the most beloved shows from my childhood/early teens, but... honestly? Most of the characters don't stand up to comparison to the B5 crew. The actors are mostly better (that whole 'having a budget' thing can really come in handy...) but once you get over the superficial similarities, that's pretty much it. In classic Star Trek fashion, there's not a hell of a lot of change through the seven years for most of the characters. Vir's semi-equivalent (very semi, but you'll understand if/when you see it why I compare them) does grow up... and actually his position at the end of the series should be an impressive change, but it's just things that happen to him, not things that he does. The one who at first you'll be tempted to regard as a Londo equivalent (at least I was tempted by the reverse comparison) really doesn't change that much at all. And the comparison for the most part fades after you get over appearance and initial attitude. Anyway, it's a fun show, but what I'm trying to say is that it seems like JMS's amazing gift to sci-fi was characters who actually change over the five years. DS9 does not have much of that. And for the most part the character similarities are kind of... scattered between people. There's one guy who, looking back, has a character arc somewhat similar to Londo, for instance, but it never occurred to me before now to compare them because their attitudes are so diametrically opposed. He's a great character though, one of my favorites. Heh. He's the grey one in the icon, actually.

Those two are amazing, and I've been very good about spoilers with them (largely because I avoid the fanfic as though it was the black plague) so I should be totally okay. I know only what the episodes want me to know, which is the best place to be. XD

*Wibbles* I'm being good. No spoilers. I'm not even reading new fic at this point, so that I don't pick up on anything. One week to go, must stay unspoiled!

If it's anything like me watching through the last few seasons, you'll be getting periodic and extremely rambling updates on my progress via LJ. Heh. I'm actually tempted to scoot back through my old entries, just to see what all I said before I get the snot beat out of those impressions by the new season. I like to record feelings and impressions as I go, and notice how they change when things hit the fan.
