I know I'm going to lose some of my DW fan-cred for saying this, but... Please, for the love of everything that doesn't suck, don't let this happen. Please?

Unnverving and potentially-bad idea: A new Doctor Who movie.
How to make me more nervous about that idea: Russel Davies writing a Doctor Who movie. He's done some great things, some of his episodes are awesome, but I'm getting really un-enamoured of his style lately. If you define "lately" as "on and off since the end of S1."
Even Worse: Star-casting the companion.
Worse-than-Worse: Davies insisting he can't see doing it without Tennant as the Doctor.

News for you, Davies: We all have "our Doctor." We all have to get the hell over it when that Doctor leaves (unless you want to be the creepy person who's still mad about Baker (whichever one) leaving, twenty-some years after the fact. (And no, I'm not thinking of any particular person. Although I'm sure they're out there somewhere.) We all have to be willing to let the Doctor move on, or the story will die. It's kind of like letting your companions move on... oh, wait. Davies can't figure out how to do that, either.

It's not that I don't like Zeta-Jones. I do! I really do like her. I just... really, it's just that I think a movie would be a fabulously bad idea. No matter who did it, or who's in it, or whatever. The whole thought just makes me twitch.

On the other hand, there's nothing more cheering than another bunch of folks who think "something on the camera" means "OMG, GHOST!!!!" My entirely uneducated guess would be a bug. Possibly even a dust mote. Ooooooooo. XD

*huggle DS9*

OMG I was soooooo obsessed with DS9 when I was a kid. Loved it, loved, it loved it.

Mind you I think most of that had to do with the fact I thought Odo being a shapeshifter was awesome. ;)

Same with me - Odo was my first favorite character. ;) And the makeup... I loved the design for the Cardassians. So neat-looking!

I think the episode that really hooked me was The Forsaken in season 1 where Odo and Ambassador Troi get stuck in the turobolift together. I was like "He turns into a puddle? That's so cool!"

Lol - I used to be really bad. I had all the novels, and all the behind the scenes books. Give me a couple lines of dialogue and I knew exactly what episode it was (although I've sadly lost said ability through dis-use ;) )

Yes! That was one of the first episodes I saw.

It's good to know someone else was as overboard about that show as I was... I've had the unnerving experience lately of discovering that I can still recognize most of the actors, rattle off inane trivia, remember most of the episode names...

It's sick, you know. I can hardly remember a thing from my high school chemistry or US History classes, but every stupid thing from my childhood TV shows sticks in my head like super-glue. :P

Actually I learned in university that that is in fact, a well documented psychological phenomenon. Supposedly it's the reason behind the stereotype of the absent-minded professor (ie. a person who's brilliant in one area yet totally scatterbrained in another). Your mind will take a topic it likes (an area of expertise) and focus on it, making more connections and strengthening connections between anything related to that topic. Meanwhile anything not related to said topic only gets a minimal amount of attention, making it more likely the neural connectons will break down and information will be forgotten.

Oh and my housemate is discovering just how overboard I was, given that she made the mistake of buying me season 1 of DS9 for Christmas. Now I'm remembering all the crazy trivia I used to know ;)
Nope, I was so overboard I was about 6 feet underwater ;)
Like I said, I had all the novels, all the magazines, I'd stay up every Saturday to watch (the only channel we got it on showed it at midnight on Saturdays) - yup, obsessed, obsessed, obsessed. I was Dax once for Halloween (and the only reason I wasn't Odo was I didn't know enough about FX make-up at the time to actually pull off his face)
