Assuming, that is, that the studio greenlights the project.

Kitten is lounging on the couch with Theoden, on whom she appears to have a little bit of a crush. He's ignoring her. This seems to be suitable progress.

Date: 2010-06-01 12:14 am (UTC)I put her in with my bigger rats.
Abby, who was a hairless and very elderly, decided immediately that this was HER BABY, OMG, and followed her around grooming her and carrying her back to the nest and making sure she ate and grooming her more and generally fretting.
The baby, however, saw Kia - who was a huge, chubby, fuzzy creature with himalayan coloring, or in other words, nearly albino but with a dark nose and paws. And the baby's reaction was all OMG MOM!
. . and Kia did. not. like. babies. There were already a set of "twins" younger than her whose babyhood she had been forced to endure, and she hadn't enjoyed them, either. And this new baby - Emma - would just follow her everywhere (with Abby following her in turn), and try to cuddle, and Kia would be just spectacularly disinterested. At one point, Kia ended up with the baby curled up asleep literally on her head, with Abby curled up next to her trying to sit on top of the baby and be a good mummy, and Kia was just laying there wide awake with this expression of absolute and utter disgust - like, "Seriously, WHY did we need one of these?"

Date: 2010-06-01 12:29 am (UTC)And yeah, rodents and cats, not a great combination. I've heard stories of people making it work, but I think it's highly dependent on the cat's personality and general traits (one cat I know is terrified of his owner's rat, because once while cleaning the cage the person accidentally dropped the rat on top of him... but that kitty is a notorious wimp, too!), and requires constant vigilance from the person to prevent the rats ever 'pinging' that predator sense. Personally, as much as I like rats, I've never felt it could work. Just not worth risking the potential disaster.
