So.... that was a bad idea.

Somehow, in the havoc of the last few weeks, I got it into my head that the solution to my guy problems was that I actually still liked one of my ex-boyfriends, and that I'd made a mistake in breaking up with him in the first place.

The verdict from talking to him last night is that yes, I do still like him, but, no, I most likely did not make a mistake. Nor was he going to let me make that mistake again (which sounds kind, were it not for terms in which said conclusion were delivered.) Which is not to say he was being a bastard or something.... at least that's what my more polite, fully awake brain tells me. It sang a different tune last night. I'm still kind of mad at him, but whatever.

Right, right.... moving on with life, then. I remember now why I knew it was a good idea the first time, even though it hurt me.

Breaking up is such a pain in the ass that if you're ever pushed to do so it's often for a good reason...

But even saying that... been there done that.

This particular breaking-up was kind of different, since it was mostly exchanging a relationship that had been fun but mostly just a "friends with benefits" sort of deal for one that I'd hoped would go further. Trouble was that a) the new relationship didn't work so well as I'd hoped, and b) I really do have feelings for this guy, despite trying to convince myself I don't.

Still, I certainly should have remembered that it's better to risk on something uncertain, or even just be alone, than stick with someone who doesn't share your feelings.
