Had a really nice day today, although I've gotten pretty depressed right here at the end of it. My sinuses are trying to expand and take up my whole head, which is just not comfortable, and I'm freaked out about money issues for the coming year. No surprise there, since I get freaked out about this every year, but it's worse this year since I have no job at all right now.

Tomorrow, I think I should get up early and take a walk up the road, stopping by all the places I've applied at and checking in with them. And there's still the interview on Thursday with Starbucks - maybe something will come of that. I'm scared, though, because I just know I'm going to fuck up a bunch of yuppies' coffees and they're gonna hate me. *headdesk* I know nothing about coffee - I should not be working making triple grande white chocolate lattes with soy and no whip, or whatever when I don't even really know what all that means. But I'm desperate - I'll do any kind of work, pretty much, so long as it isn't actually dangerous.

My eyes hurt. I'm going to bed.

Hrm... I think that should be "white chocolate mocha" instead of "white chocolate latte," since chocolate=mocha, and latte=milk.

Don't worry about it. I hear Starbucks has a good training program. And you'll get the stylish green apron.

*laughs* Okay, yeah, that much I should've known.

I certainly hope they do. And yes, the apron. Hey, it's better than most of the uniforms I've been forced to wear...

*Pats* Maybe you should try to get a job there, too? Then, if they transfer us both to the U-Dist Starbucks in fall, we can work together!

You, too. *snuggles* Good luck with the job hunt.

Good luck! . . . And let me know if you ever want to avoid your sorrows by going to an event ;)

Wheee, thanks. I'm hoping to hit something later in the season - I'm totally not up for Clinton this year, and I'm going camping the second week of August, so that kind of limits the events I can go to. Which ones are you thinking of going to?

Mostly Fibers/ Celebration of Chivalry is next weekend, at the same site as Lionhearts I think . . . The weekend after that I'm going to Acorn War, which is at the same time as Clinton War but in the opposite direction, so I'm guessing you're not interested; then assuming Martin le Harpur gets back to me I'm teaching imprese & mottoes at Way of the Sword toward the end of August, and definitely going to September Crown (nothing multiplies one's events like a good friend becoming a Kingdom champion!) There may be other events in September as well, depending on my desperation level as prelims draw near, how persuasive my household is at dragging me to Oregon, etc.

Hmmm... I'll have to look up when and where September Crown is, definitely - I usually go to that, at least. Anything I do will depend a lot on my job, whenever I get one. I would very much like to go to a few more summer events, though, now that I've got my membership.

Wow, that's very cool that a friend ofyours was made a Kingdom champion!

September Crown is in Washington this year, first weekend of September I think, maybe out by the coast?

I take it you're not up for Celebration of Chivalry this weekend?

It is cool, but now [livejournal.com profile] aelfgyfu keeps pressuring me to do Kingdom A&S just because she has to be there ;)

No, I have a house-warming party for some friends this weekend.

*Laughs* Yeah, that'd be a bit of a problem. It's fun having people to go to these things with, though.

Yeah, I definitely got into the SCA via a combination of "all my friends are doing it" and "men with long hair are hot" ;)

Ahhhh, yes - I have a feeling a great many of us were pulled in by the combination of those factors. Peer pressure and lust... what better encouragement could a person ask for?

Good luck on finding a job, and all.

Yeah. ::loathes Starbucks:: All that fancy coffee, just give me a cup of the plain black coffee (maybe with just a hint of milk) and I'll be happy.

Feel better!

Thanks!

I'm not hugely fond of them, but I do like their atmosphere, and their drinks are yummy. They're just normally too expensive, and I prefer tea, anyway.

BAH! The only tea that is worth drinking is jasmine tea, in my opinion.

Their drinks are far too sweet for me. ::shrugs::

I have a passion for tea, myself. Green tea, black tea, spice tea, herbal tea... I love them.

Mmm, see, I'm a sweetness whore sometimes. I can't stand drinking coffee black, it has to have cream and sugar. Same with my stronger black teas. The only really bitter drink I like is a good dark ale or beer.

Eh - alcohol is vile, I don't touch the stuff.

Yeah, guess we've got opposite tastes when it comes to beverages. Oh well. ^_~

Seems like we're definitely opposites, yeah.

I don't drink very often, but I like wine, beer, or a wine cooler occasionally. Or some mixed drinks, but nothing too strong-tasting.
