cats and stuff
May. 11th, 2017 07:19 pmTheo is completely healed up from the surgery to remove his tumor, so now it's time for the other cat, Random, to have an eye infection of some kind. Yay, more vet visits! (Booooo.)
And this time won't be with the cat who turns into a melted marshmallow at the vet, but the one who makes even experienced vet techs and veterinarians think that we picked up an angry feral on the way to the clinic.
In unrelated news, American Gods is predictably (and, occasionally, unpredictably) fantastic, iZombie continues to be delightful, and I got a part time job as the administrator for the editing guild that I've been on the board of for the last few years, which means I can continue my freelance editing career with slightly less guilt and panic about regular income.
Also, I had a very cute but slightly harrowing tour group at the museum today. It turns out that it's very difficult to run a tour for a group that runs the gamut from three late-teens all the way down to what I would guess were second graders. Super nice kids, really lovely, but trying to gear the tour to such a broad group really put me off my game. I'm very glad the tour next week and the two the week after that are supposed to be more traditional single-age groups.
And now, back to the transcription client.
(I am very glad that Mother's Day is going to be over soon. I'm hoping someday it won't be a thing I dread, but... so far, definitely still a dreaded thing.)

American Gods: I KNOW, RIGHT?!!! I just about exploded last week - Orlando Jones was amazing in the intro, Ian McShane and Ricky Whittle continue to be mind-bogglingly good, everything is just as beautiful and weird as in Fuller's other series, Peter Stormare blew my mind, Cloris Leachman just about made me die with the whole "...You no die of canceer" thing, and Gillian Anderson is always my hero. I am loving this thing soverymuch.

Date: 2017-05-12 07:30 pm (UTC)Orlando Jones, oh my God, so amazing! The entire cast is so perfect, and I was just waiting to see Gillian do Lucy. I think she did an amazing job with the line "You ever want to see Lucy's tits?" which I've never really liked.
I can't wait until the bank robbery and Zorya Polunochnaya (sp?) next week.

Date: 2017-05-12 07:59 pm (UTC)I feel like if I've learned anything from Fuller's previous shows, it's "I will fall 100% in love with almost everyone he casts." This time I had a head-start on a few (Jones, Anderson, and Chenoweth whenever she shows up), but, as predicted, I'm pretty much hugely into everyone now. Everyone is interesting, everyone has so much going on, and they all really know how to make their characters real and deep, and nobody looks like That Guy or That Girl from central casting, you know? There's a kind of sameness, a feeling like "oh yeah, it's that guy/girl" even if you've never seen them before, about a lot of TV actors. They're so monochrome, so symmetrical that they're standardized, and Fuller really doesn't believe in casting people like that, I don't think. It makes everything so much more interesting and real.
