Easy answer: Cardassians. I love those complicated, fascist space lizards. I... honestly don't even have anything interesting to say about why I love them, I just do. I like their aesthetic, I find the characters generally interesting (Garak in particular, of course), and even the ones who are obnoxious assholes (Dukat...) are interesting assholes, at least to my mind.

1. The Cardassians are the best at being the worst.

1a. However, with that said, I am still pissed at Voyager for throwing away a perfectly good plotline in favor of having Seksa develop a chronic case of backstabbery.

They really, really are. ♥

And... oh, Voyager. Throwing away perfectly good plotlines was the one thing they were good at, in my opinion.

Seska could have really been interesting -- she had potential. Unfortunately, they decided instead to make her a soap opera villain, and not even one who stayed on the ship. She could have stuck around, always tempting the crew toward all kinds of dubious actions in pursuit of getting home, causing conflict among the crew because of her identity and the fact that the Maquis crew had trusted and liked her... but no. We have to send her off with the Kazon, then bring her back occasionally to do bizarre shit like impregnate herself with Chakotay's child. Hooray, it's stupid and sexist!

Ah, well, Seska is just a symptom of how they screwed up the potential of the whole Maquis integration plotline from the very start.

My spontaneous reaction is, I agree. They simply had characters that made a lasting impression and got good storylines (however I was also disappointed about how Seska ended up).

If Seska had been written with as much skill and interest as, say, Garak, Voyager would have been a much more interesting show, at least for me.

I really like the Cardassians, too. "Fascist space lizards..." yes.

They're great! I love a character or group of characters who very distinctly have their own goals and agenda. ♥

(God, so did I. To this day I still watch their last scene in the finale thinking "JUST KISS," as if it's going to change after all this time...)
